“Lovely cottage, will go again”
Reviewed June 17, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We stayed at High Winds for 4 nights in May. The cottage is lovely, all the facilities you could need, the top floor bedroom is huge! Dogs are welcome which is great. The cottage is a couple of minutes walk from the small beach and there are 2 pubs close by, plus tea rooms.

“Wonderful cosy cottage. ”
Reviewed April 1, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

It's the first time that me and my partner have visited Staithes. We had a brilliant time and loved that everything was dog friendly. The cottage was everything we had hoped it would be for our few days away with the dog. The cottage is in the heart of the village, perfect for a nice stroll along the beach or quick bite to eat. The living area is open plan and I loved being able to chat to my partner while being in the kitchen. The master bedroom is a great size. I took my dressing gown expecting to be cold but I did not need to use it, the cottage was so nice and warm considering the pretty bad weather we had during our visit. There is much to do in and around Staithes. It was especially nice that a folder in the cottage contained all this information. It left me wanting more. I hope to visit again in the near future and would absolutely stay in High Winds again.

My husband and I have just returned from a three night stay at High Winds Cottage. We arrived early evening and contacted Eva to get specific instructions as I couldn't access my emails with the original instructions on. Eva was prepared to come out in the evening and show us to the cottage herself but we found it no problem. Once inside we were greeted with a warm, clean and cosy cottage. Eva had left us some bread, milk and butter with was very welcome. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the top bedroom was to die for very spacious with beautiful furniture and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. There was a hairdryer, iron, ironing board and travel cot for use if needed. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and we cooked and eat in, we wanted for nothing. The location of the cottage was excellent as it was within a stones throw from the two excellent pubs. Added bonus was the wifi. We will definitely be returning and cannot recommend this cottage highly enough.

This was the first time we have been to Staithes- what can I say? Absolute gem of a place. Cottage is beautiful and in an ideal location. We had days out to the surrounding area and thoroughly enjoyed a lovely break away. Thanks to Eva for allowing us to stay.

“Perfect location for time in Staithes”

Staithes is a favourite destination of ours. The cottage is perfectly situated down a quiet lane half way up/down the high street easy reach to the harbour & beach area. I stayed with my partner and two children aged 13 & 20. It was perfect for us we loved the open plan aspect and although small we never felt crammed even with us all there. The added bonus having WiFi which kept the kids happy and it was nice to spend that time on an evening all together. We did eat out more than planned but if we stayed again would do more cooking as the kitchen was very well equpped and modern. The bathroom was lovely and modern too. The upstairs bedroom was one of the nicest we have stayed in plenty of room and wardrobe & cupboard space with iron and hairdryer too, although careful with the low beams. Overall a lovely cottage suitable for a family of four or a couple.

Liked best: great location, open plan, big dining table, nice big double bedroom.
Liked least: steep stairs but they aree very much in every cottage in staithes, & only because I have a bad knee everyone else found them okay.

“Fine place for a short break”
Reviewed April 25, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Staithes is a pretty but very small village. It has an attractive harbour and two decent pubs, of which the Cod and Lobster is the better. There is a small museum about Captain Cook. It is an excellent base for coastal walks. The North Sea coast has unpredictable weather but we were exceptionally fortunate with warm sunny weather.

The cottage is clean and well appointed but care is necessary to avoid banging your head on low beams. It is quite small and the two bedrooms are on different floors.

There is a reasonably good electric shower. There is good electric heating included in the price. If you go in the winter you can use the coal fire.

You can drive to within ten yards of the cottage to unload and load your bags but you need to park at the top of the hill for the rest of the time. Not suitable if you have any real difficulty walking but fine otherwise.

There is wifi and a decent TV with a fair selection of DVDs, and a small selection of books, so you have something to do if the weather turns foul.

High Winds is a lovely fisherman's cottage in the heart of the old part of Staithes village. It is perfectly situated, just off the high street (very quiet with no traffic), tucked away down a little ginnel. It is a stone's throw from the harbour, with a lovely pub 2 minutes walk away (literally) which does great food and also welcomes dogs. The cottage is very well equipped, with all you could need to make your stay a 'home from home'. We have stayed in many holiday rentals over the years and would rate this one up there with the best of them.
