The cottage was equipped with everything that we needed. It was very conveniently located. Booking the holiday was simple and straightforward. Thank you.
It's a good, clean cottage, warm and spacious. Location is perfect, down in the village. I think perhaps what made me choose this over others though was the great hints and tips and advice for walks etc that Andy gave me in the run up to the stay. Anyone could own a nice cottage, but it's important to look after your guests and this is just what Andy did.
The location was excellent and really convenient for popping to the beach or doing a quick bit of crabbing. Forgotten something or kids getting a bit hungry? It's only two minutes back to the house, so really easy to nip back. Eating out with a family soon adds up, so we saved money on lunchtimes and snacks too.
Saying that, the beach-side cafe in Staithes was really reasonable and the main-street tea rooms had a great selection of gluten-free cakes for my coeliac husband, so eating out was no chore. The butcher's also comes recommended - one of the best chickens I've had in years!
Everyone in Staithes seemed genuinely friendly and welcoming - it was such a lovely place to stay. The owner, Andy, was also friendly with great communication - I felt that if we'd had any problems, he'd have dealt with them well.
The cottage is clean and cosy, and plenty warm enough once we'd switched on the bedroom heaters. The kitchen is really well equipped (including sharp kitchen knives), although I'll consider bringing a bigger cooking pot if we return with a larger party (we really are big eaters and I often find that holiday cottages don't have pans as big as I'd like - they were fine for our party of four).
We visited on the first May bank holiday weekend and sometimes had the beach to ourselves, with glorious sunshine (despite a dull forecast) - we couldn't believe such a lovely place was so quiet! We'll definitely be back.
This was a lovely little getaway and well planned so that you had everything you might need plus extras-e.g. Towels, tea towels etc. Left we'll equipped and clean and the owners were very helpful with the booking and information.
First visit to Staithes, it's lovely, quaint and old fashioned. We visited Whitby and Runswick but we could have happily stayed in Staithes all week. Coastguard Cottage felt like home, comfy and cosy with everything we needed. We had good weather and went on the beach every day. We went crabbing, a first for us, and we enjoyed exploring the village and going to the top of the cliff with it's amazing view. We also sat outside the pub a couple of times watching the children play on the sand and in the sea. A very enjoyable week, definitely be going again!
We enjoyed a very nice stay at Coastguard Cottage along with superb weather for March. The Cottage was equipped to a very high standard with all one could ever need. Just a few minutes walk from the Harbour , two very nice pubs and a really quaint Tea Room Dotty Vintage just really nice and a must to visit.
Very impressed with the Cottage and it's location we can recommend as we will be returning soon. Frazer
Coastguard Cottage is both cosy and spacious, a traditional cottage with all the facilities you would need. As repeat visitors we have seen how the owners have maintained and kept the cottage up-to-date, and how it is always spotlessly clean on arrival. For self-caterers you will find the kitchen extremely well equipped with enough of everything you might need. The location is superb, just a short walk to the harbour, the butchers, and the two local pubs. We will be going back - again and again.
