The house had everything we needed and is handy for the beach. The décor is delightful! We had a very restful and enjoyable Easter, even though the weather outside was very cold. Car parking and food shopping need planning, as car parks and THE food shop are at the top of a steep hill. Excellent food at the nearby pubs - which get very busy! The outdoor seating to the rear of the house must be very pleasant in appropriate weather. Karen the owner seems to have thought about everything you might need - even to lovely big bath towels!
Lovely house, gorgeous village, delicious pub food, beautiful views - what's not to like? We thoroughly enjoyed our few days away in this wonderful part of Yorkshire - thank you Karen for providing the perfect base for our trip. The house was warm, inviting and comfortable and we all had a lovely time.
The house is spacious, well equipped and great position, for our return to Staithes. Has ever it didn't fail.
6 adults stayed Thurs- Sun 13-16 July 2017. We were blown away by the comfortable, clean & well- cared for cottage. Situated on main cobbled road - beware 4x4 drivers- not much space to turn round !! Everything was provided in the cottage including a welcome bottle of wine after our journey. Thank you! Every room was decorated sympathetically & in keeping with the sea theme. We could stay here forever. Be aware of the seagulls- they don't care what time it is! We forgot about them quickly & settled down for a fab weekend. Thank you Karen, hope we can stay again x
We really enjoyed our short break at this house. It's comfortable and thoughtfully decorated, and feels fresh and cared for even though it's an older property with lots of character. Minor problems with an appliance were very quickly sorted out via email, and the owner was fantastically responsive and helpful.
The wifi in the property is good - we brought a wifi booster just in case, but we didn't need to use it despite lots of devices running, kids streaming video, etc.
The position of the house in the village is great for short walks to the beach, harbour and lifeboat shed, and there is a pretty sweet shop across the road. Really good fossil collecting spot very nearby too (just round the headland from the harbour, details easily findable via Google).
Only slight thing I would mention is that you do need to plan your food shopping a bit, because the main car park and the Co-op are up a fairly steep hill. It's actually a nice walk to reach them, but might be a bit of an effort if you are tired/have limited mobility or have very small kids with you.
Overall we were really happy with it and would recommend.
We had a wonderful stay in Karen's cottage. It had everything we needed. It was homely, clean and tidy, with all the nautical touches!
The location is perfect. Highly recommended getting up to watch sunrise over the village, just straight out the back gate over the bridge and up the hill!
We can't wait to come and stay again, thank you again for your hospitality.
