Owner description: Market Harborough’s Library, Museum, Adult Learning and Registration Services have come together as Symington 1 on the first floor of The Symington Building, a former corset factory on Adam and Eve Street. The combined services at Symington 1 provide an exciting cultural and heritage hub in the heart of the community. The interior is designed to inspire, encourage and support learning for everybody of all ages and abilities, while the original exterior of the Grade II building preserves the manufacturing legacy of the site. Following its refurbishment, Harborough Museum features new displays that celebrate the history and people of Market Harborough and its surrounding area. As well as the return of the Hallaton Treasure, with items including 5,000 Iron Age coins and a Roman helmet, visitors can now step inside the reconstructed Falkner’s boot and shoe making workshop. With changing displays in a dedicated special exhibition space and a shared entrance with the new library, this is an exciting, fresh space for the town. From borrowing the latest bestseller to delving into your family history, Market Harborough library has it all. With an ICT suite, local history information and learning rooms, there is something for everyone. As well as over 33,000 items to borrow, the new Story Place combines museum exhibits with the children’s library so that families can enjoy learning and reading together. If you are in need of a new job or a fresh direction, Leicestershire Adult Learning Service could help you find your way. Whether it’s a new language, an upgrade of your key skills or a new qualification, see where Leicestershire Adult Learning Service can take you.

Everything a local museum should be with the the addition of the Hallaton Treasure and Helmet. Thank heavens it wasn't sent to London ! Well laid out after recent refurbishment.

Harborough Museum has the amazing attraction of the Hallaton Treasure which is beautifully displayed with lots of children activities. Both adults and kids loved it, and we learned much from it. The staff are very pleasant and children friendly. There are also lots of other things to see and it is still FREE!
