Angel Hotel
Reviewed November 26, 2012

We were due to attend a family party recently only to learn that the venue was flooded out. We rang around to try to find another venue. We rang The Angel - and although their function room was in use , they undertook to ring around and in fact secured another 1st class venue for us without a charge. We were so grateful and couldn't thank them enough.

If this is an indication of the level of service that customers receive at the hotel it is beyond expectations and goes that bit further to exceed customers requirements.
Many thanks.

This hotel is very over priced. We arrived to be told the kichen was closed and breakfast the following morning was only continental. The hotel needs a complete facelift, the room was dated and small and the bed very uncomfortable. We asked to be up graded but told there were no rooms, however, at breakfast we were the only people eating. We were woken at 6.45 am by the beer being delivered over the cobbles under our room window. Next time we will stick to the usual Premier Travel Inn.

We booked the Angel for a weekend away and found it to be very good value for money, the main part of the hotel is dated in parts but very clean and well located. The room was large and had everything we needed, tea & coffee making facility's etc, the toiletries in the bathroom were very welcomed as I had forgot to pack mine. Reception even brought me up a mini tooth past and brush, I was so thankful.
The staff were very helpful and our breakfast was fantastic.I will certainly be returning.

Room Tip: Room 1- close to reception and a nice size

We booked the Angel for it's good location, but this was a mistake from the start. The young lad on reception didn't know how to check us in,and when the young girl took over, she then gave us the key to a basic room, when we had booked an executive one!My husband went back down to reception to querie this, and was then given another key to the right room. This was a very nice large room, but when we opened the bathroom door, the floor was FILTHY-sticky/footprints all over, and the brackets on the toilet were (mucky),and only towels for one person,
We went down to the bar(meanwhile)the young lad had been sent up to wash the floor(bless him),ordered a bottle of wine, and was given 2 different size glasses! It seems they are geared up to cater for rugby fans over hotel guests,it was full of fans shouting etc at the tv,so we moved into the lounge area, but gave up and went back to our room as there were 2 different lots of music being played in there!!
Dinner never happened,we pre booked a table at 6.30pm,but by 6,45 we were still sat on our own in the dining room, and when a chap finally came in,he said
they had forgotten about us!!! so we ate across the road at Zizzi's which was fab.In the morning we told the same young girl about all of this, and she laughed...which my husband said to her that he didn't find it funny at all,and that we were not at all happy. She said she was going to ask the manager if we could have the stay for free,(the manager it seems had laryngitis and was unable to speak to us)but when she came back she said they would contact us in a day or so,and we have heard nothing since. She did charge us £9 less as this was the difference between the day we booked on line,to the price that day.

I booked into the hotel for one night when on business in the area and thought that the price was very cheap for a 3* hotel so I was not expecting too much. I was pleasantly suprised.
The staff were very welcoming. The corridors and public areas were shabby and in need of decorating and new carpets - but what do you expect for the price?
My room was small but more than adequate for one night. It was spotlessly clean, warm, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom had a good selection of toiletries and new, big, fluffy towels.
The breakfast was brilliant - the best ever. There was a wide choice and everything was cooked individually and to perfection
The car park is huge. The hotel is well located amid the many good and reasonably priced restaurants in this lovely little market town.
I will certainly stay here again if I need to be in Market Harborough overnight.

Room Tip: Please bear in mind the price you are paying before criticising

We found the Angel was the hotel in the best location for taxis to & from a friend's party and picked it on that basis. Room was out towards the car park but quiet and spacious. Bathroom a little dated but nevertheless very clean and served its purpose. You get what you pay for and it was good value for money at £70 for double b&b via laterooms.com. Breakfast very tasty and, although the lady serving seemed a little panicked when a few more people turned up to eat, the service was very good. Reception & bar staff very friendly & accommodated our request for an early check in.

Rooms very dated, Mouldy bathrooms, Old, dirty wallpaper and very basic amenities.
Receptionist unhelpful and spent the entire time taking a personal phone call on her mobile whilst checking us in which I found very rude.

Such a shame as the location of the hotel is perfect for visiting the Market Harborough town. Walking distance to all the shops and pubs.

Room Tip: The rooms do not look like the ones advertised on the website. Small and cramped, Dirty and Dated.
