Dear, oh dear. This place really does need investment, a thorough staff training programme, and a way of getting rid of the through traffic which seems to be able to cut through the hotel yard and access road...
You are obliged to give them a non-refundable deposit - do hotels really still do that!?! So that makes for a punishing cancellation policy. Still at least with their guests having paid deposits they can be pretty sure of numbers.... Um... no.... apparently not.
We were unable to get breakfast because "the dining room is full". Having waited 20 minutes or so, we decided to serve ourselves in the bar area outside the dining room, and flagged down a sympathetic waitress who kindly set a placing for us on a bar table. By that time another 7 or 8 guests were despairing of ever getting anything to eat. Some left and some followed our precedent and started eating in the bar area. The lovely waitress who had helped us deserves recognition for being so willing to sort the problem - as opposed to her boss who disapproved of the whole notion of breaking the rules to get the customers breakfast.
The room we slept in was clean and comfortable - though decor really tired. However it was desperately noisy early in the morning when cars started roaring through the access road underneath our bedroom.
Absolutely NOT worth the money. Stay down the road at the Angel or one of the rather lovely places just outside Market Harborough

Room Tip: Stay in another hotel!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast, even though we had to wait a few minutes to get a table, due to a coach party. Perhaps worth asking about that at reception when booking in. However, the staff offered to serve us breakfast downstairs in the conservatory, but we opted to wait. For those not so mobile, even if you have a ground floor room, breakfast is served in the upstairs dining room. I did find the stairs challenging. The room was spotless, but I expect not much has changed since it opened in 1989. No white bathroom suite, for those who put stock by that. The carpet was clean but very worn and could have done with replacing. Mu husband did ask for a feather pillow, as he dislikes the firm terylene ones, but no joy. Must take our own next time. However, the price was extremely reasonable, no dearer than a B&B and the good points definitely outweigh the bad. Great sitting out area for that evening/lunchtime drink.

This seems to be a hotel of two halves, one is for the man building that seems pleasant enough but I have to say I was very disappointed with the half I stayed in. Very steep stairs to a narrow landing all a bit scruffy and, whilst the room was spotlessly clean it was very 1980's. The showers was pathetic, little more than a dribble.
With a brand new Travelodge round the corner with great showers etc for half the price I think you need to spend a bit or close this part of the hotel as it lets the rest of the place down.
No wonder the receptionist didn't ask how the room was, she knew!

Room Tip: Stay in the main hotel, refuse the motel if you want a good shower

Excellent hotel.
Good prompt service with a smile. Location excellent as in the middle of town-walk out the door and you are in the town . Restaurant facilities clean, well set out. Food presentation outstanding. Menu choices varied.

This was our first ever visit to Market Harborough but it wont be our last - we just loved the town and this Hotel was ideal being central to shops and amenities. Our room was an executive room above the conference centre - it was spacious smart and clean. Loved the deep bath, great shower and fluffy towels. All good. Just of note though - check if any party is to be held the nights you stay as can be loud if so. The hotel was charming. The staff great and the food was so good and great value so we ate twice in the conservatory and once in the restaurant. Usually would try different places but the food was faultless so why bother! Little niggles re our room were rectified immediately. Perhaps my tip would be to stay in the more modern rooms. We were shown the four poster bedroom and i would say it did look a little tired - felt the older part of the hotel needed a bit of tlc perhaps. For a character hotel in a lovely place this is perfect. p.s. All the locals were great - friendly and helpful. Try Joules eating house when a band is on one summer evening - eccentric but fun! Will def go back to this hotel again.
