“Fish and chip shop it is not!”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

We were taken here by my parents to celebrate my mother's 82. When she told us we were going to a fish restaurant in Nailsworth but they didn't take reservations, my wife rather disparagingly confided in me that we were obviously being "treated" to a fish and chip restaurant. Well now she is eating humble pie. From the moment you enter this establishment, which is fresh, light and airy, and pass the beautiful display of fresh fish on sale, to the restaurant at the back, you sense this is a special place. If you are not early you will wait for a table, sometimes for quite a while. The two serving ladies were delightful, mixing efficiency with consideration and humour. The food menu is interesting and not too expensive (but this is not a cheap lunch) and there is a good choice of wine. Seafood is their speciality but they offer non-seafood choices. Not all the choices are always available and whilst this was frustrating, our waitress explained tongue in cheek that she had "eaten it all", which set the tone. Be warned that portions are small so don't be starving. Quality not quantity is the name of the game. I will definitely be back.

“How Fabulous!”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

Great menu, great fish and deli counters, and all at sensible prices. We could get seriously hooked into becoming very regulars here!
The staff deserve great credit for their customer service too.

“A great experience every time.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Been here on numerous occasions for lunch (there's no evening dining) and it's always excellent. There are numerous lovely fish dishes on the menu, but I go back time and time again for the mussels and chips, they are outstanding. Feel very lucky to have this place nearby. Prices are also very reasonable i feel.

“What every town needs...”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Stopped off on the way through for lunch and what a pleasurable experience. While certainly not cheap it pulls off the key trick of running an eating establishment that you actually want to go back to, to try more of their dishes.

Excellent service and fascinating local knowledge provided as part of the deal.

Value for money? With this good food plus service you don't feel the pain so much!

“A Place to Savour!”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

This is a very special place to have breakfast or lunch - no evening dining unfortunately.
We knew of the food hall, but wanted to have a light lunch whilst house hunting in the area. So we just had the lobster and fish soup, but this was enough to convince us that we must return as soon as possible! Wonderful taste and textures in the soup, with those on other tables enjoying monster spider crabs and other delights. We found the staff friendly and welcoming, and we can't wait to become regular customers!
