“The perfect place to stay!”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend at YewTree Cottage for my wife's Birthday. It truly is a stunning place to stay! Our host Vivien was very friendly and hospitable, and attended to all our needs. She could not have been more helpful. She is also the most marvellous cook, serving up great tasting food for breakfast and an evening meal.
The cottage itself is gorgeous, with lavish rooms, all beautifully decorated and furnished. The surrounding gardens are of equal beauty. Also, the location is really quite idyllic.
We would recommend this cottage anytime, and will certainly not hesitate to return.
A very memorable stay.

We were seeking to avoid impersonal big cities and to experience the true character of England when we chose to stay at Yew Tree Cottage, and what a great choice it was. This lovely 300-year old beamed cottage gave us a chance to "live" for a few days in a tiny English village where controversy over the destiny of the red phone booth dominates daily gossip and the vicar doesn't cut his sermon short just because there are only four people in the congregation! The cottage is beautiful with large, comfortable rooms and a garden that looks just as the picture books show them. Our room had a window seat that opened out to a climbing rose that scented the air as we took turns sitting there reading our books of an evening. Vivian, our hostess, baked all her own bread and prepared our breakfast to order each morning. All the fruit came from her own garden and was delicious. We really enjoyed Vivian - she seemed to me to be a character from one of my favorite novels, the stereotypical Englishwoman that you don't think really exists, but there she was - wonderful! We felt quite spoiled by her and enjoyed every moment of our stay. If you're looking for real English personality, Yew Tree Cottage is a wonderful choice.

A wonderful place to stay. We were made welcome and allowed to feel at home making use of the garden and house. The cottage itself is as you would expect of the beautiful Cotswold countryside - cosy and comfortable and decorated with taste. The bathroom in particular a light and homely place to relax the muscles. The cottage itself is within easy reach of restaurants and attractions but has a peace all of its own. We were lucky to find Yew Tree and would highly recommend it.

A large bedroom with a light and airy bathroom with every comfort, a great breakfast with a friendly and knowledgeable host, and the most idyllic cottage set in a rural hamlet. 2 beautiful and well behaved dogs too! We would highly recommend this place.

Charming Yew Tree Cottage looks like it could be the subject for many a Thomas Kinkade Painting. And we got to stay in it! Vivien is to be admired for her hard work in keeping this b&b spotless, along with the spectacular garden. We were greeted with a tea and home made cookies. Every morning Viven made us breakfast that included cereals and fruits along with toast made from her own recipe seed bread. (when does she have time?) She followed that with a hot breakfast to order. We were traveling with my sister and her husband so the 4 of us took both rooms that Viven lets out. The only challenge was that she suggested we not all shower in the same hour that we might run out of hot water. We quickly solved this problem as we hadn't planned on it anyway! Vivien was a gracious hostess who offered us wine or tea/coffee in the evenings when we came in. We were so happy that we were able to experience the Cotswolds by staying in this beautiful cottage in the little village of Turkdean. We felt we truly captured the character of the area. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If possible book the room with the en-suite bath

We have recently returned from the most fabulous stay at Yew Tree Cottage with Vivien, who was a fantastic hostess and her two adorable labradors, Gully and Bea.
The cottage is immaculate and beautifully qaint with gorgeous cottage gardens, and Vivien was a perfect hostess, with a lovely sense of humour. Each day began with a delicious breakfast consisting of fresh fruit, cereals, lovely full english breakfast and home made toast and preserves. The cottage is nearby to all the local, very pretty, cotswold villages and it is surrounded by the most beautiful walks. I don't know how, but we managed to get lost on one of our walks and a lovely lady from Salperton offered to give us a lift back to Turkdean - we are very grateful to her.
We really miss staying with Vivien and should we return to the Cotswolds, we will definately look to stay with her again - thank you Vivien for helping to make our stay in the Cotswolds so special - Mandy and Ken.

Yew Tree Cottage is a fantastic B&B and Vivian made us feel really welcome. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back.

Upon arrival, Vivian greeted us with tea and home-baked cake. She then showed us to our beautiful room (the "Beamed Bedroom"), that was very lovingly furnished and incredibly cosy. It had a private, light-flooded bathroom just one step across the landing.

Vivian pays a lot of attention to detail and you'll find that everything in her house is very harmonious. It feels like home away from home and there was absolutely nothing we did not like about this place.
