Visited here after seeing a brown sign and it was on our way home.
Lovely machines, lovingly restored. The tour guide who led the talk did so very smoothly and despite him having worked there for 23 years,he had no lack of enthusiasm for the subject and gave the impression that he loved his job. The full talk is an hour long and can get a bit lengthy after a while standing. Its a small room and when more visitors arrived, it was a little hard to see the detailed mechanics close-up. There is a small gift shop, but we didn't buy anything.
Worth popping in for a visit to this place if you have any interest in music & if its on your route.

there are a few steps up to the room to bear in mind if you have mobility issues, but a few chairs were provided to sit on if needed.

This small museum is a delight, largely due to the knowledge of the tour guides (admission is by guided tour only). Don't be put off if the idea of musical boxes doesn't instantly appeal, you've really got to hear some of the exhibits to appreciate how good these can get. An hour well spent and very good value for money.

This is a truely unique small museum. The required tour is fascinating with lots of demonstrations of the mechanical music players in a progression from earliest to more recent. Some of them are quite large and complex. These were intended to be the "home entertainment systems" of their day. Learned a great deal and aquired a new appreciation for the art of making them.
While in Northleach be sure to visit the church and the very old pub.

This was a little gem of a museum. We were not sure what to expect but from the moment we arrived, it was obviously going to be fascinating. The man behind the desk told us about the well known musicians who play in the pub on Christmas Eve - that was a good start! The guided tour of the museum with the instrunments was quite simply fascinating and we could happily have spent hours just asking questions and finding out more. It is a museum not to be missed.
