We stopped here for lunch on the spur.....hadn't previously read about it.
We sat in the beautifully terraced and presented gardens. A credit to you. We had a table that felt like we were in our own little room, it was private and secluded, but with so much to look at and chat about.
The food - superbly presented and delicious and I had one of the most unusual but wonderful salads I have ever had. The staff were all helpful, polite and friendly.
If ever we are back in the area we will dine here again, a little gem!

I have eaten here quite a few times recently for lunch and dinner. The service has been excellent and the food was too! The menu is a little pricey but the beautiful gardens and the atmosphere definitely make up for it!

Very nice outdoor garden with different seating levels, well maintained. Food tastes lovely, but service was a complete disaster. Our two starters (Mussels on toast, and scallop ceviche) did not arrive at the same time, in fact we had to ask for the (cold !) Ceviche to be served together with the mussels. Then the wheels came off: the sirloin came well well done, although ordered medium, and the lamb (ordered pink - "yes of course Sir, pink it is ") was well done as well. Back they went to the kitchen. Lamb at least did come back half-pink, steak again not medium, but by then we were hungry and had a go. Declined complimentary dessert and coffee, but in fairness both glasses of wine as well as the 10% service charge were taken off the bill.
Other diners experienced even longer waits, and others left after only drinks.
Bottom line: great setting, tasty food, completely crappy service.

Well, we decided to finally go to the Wheatsheaf for a drink and light lunch today. We thought it might be a bit pretentious but we were pleasantly surprised. The attention to detail was fantastic, both in the decor, the beautiful Cotswold stone walls around the garden and the food.
The food was exceptionally good, and we eat out a lot and are very discerning customers. We've actually eaten out less recently because we were so fed up at being disappointed, especially in so called 'gastro' style pubs that we'd rather stay at home and cook for ourselves. This restored our faith. We had a charcuterie platter to share which included a very rich but yummy chicken liver parfait, and devilled kidneys on toast and a lovely pear, walnut, chicory and Harborne Blue cheese salad. The salad was so delicious- vibrant and fresh. Even the napkins and the bottles of water were well thought out and pleasing to the eye.
There were some annoying rah girls guffawing on a neighbouring table but other than that we enjoyed ourselves immensely and they are dog friendly which we like as our labrador could come with us and enjoy a bowl of water (and any crumbs) under the table.
Jim the manager was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable.
This place is definitely a cut above the competition and we will return again.

Everything looked good and weather fantastic. But it was a summer party so we had obviously chosen the wrong day to visit ,Unlike the boast on the website at something past three. Not even a sandwich was available whatever the reason not behind the realms of possibility but still we declined the offer of crisps and moved on
