Friendly staff who were very accommodating when I was out for a meal with my boyfriend. Also managed the large table next to me well, constantly polite and well organised. Would definitely go back.

When we visit Harwich we usually eat at the Ship Inn but as our visit today was at short notice it was fully booked. On the strength of other trip advisor reviews we decided to try the Thai Up At the Quay and am so glad that we did.

We were made to feel welcome by the owner who is very knowledgeable about Thai food, and our lunch far exceeded our expectations, in fact it was the best Thai food I've had for years. Everything was delicious & obviously cooked with care. The balance of flavours was excellent and so nice to see that they do not use MSG.

We will definitely come back again in the future.

We have used this restaurant a number of times and have always enjoyed the experience. The food is truly first class, authentic and very fresh.

The staff are very helpful and will offer advice when trying new dishes and suggest delicious combinations. The service is very good and attentive.

We would recommend this fantastic Thai restaurant to anyone. If it is your first visit to a Thai restaurant then we recommend the set menu, a great introduction to this cuisine and excellent value, we were certainly smitten!

This was my wife's second visit to Thai up.., and my first. The welcome could not have been warmer, the staff more professional and the food more delicious. The restaurant, housed in an old pub, is up a side turning just off Harwich Quay and serves an authentic Thai menu accompanied by some fabulous Thai wines and beers. The food is all freshly cooked to order and that gives it a freshness and flavour that is hard to beat. Certainly this is one of the most exciting restaurants in Harwich serving really terrific food with friendly, personal service.

However, the only slight cloud in an otherwise crystal sky is the length of time it takes to serve your meal. The owner warned us that, as the meals were fresh-cooked and the kitchen was very small, it would take a while to prepare our meal. This was certainly true; there were only two other tables in on this Sunday lunchtime but, even being forewarned and prepared, the waiting time was just on the cusp of unacceptable, We turned up just after 1.00 and got our main course about an hour later. Now, because of the other factors; the pleasant surroundings, the charming staff, the great wine and the truly fabulous food, we are prepared to forgive the terribly slow service. But be warned, if you have a boat to catch, best not risk as last minute meal at the Thai. But, if time is no problem, go ahead and be assured of a great experience.
