Zig Zag Cottage B&B
Ranked #2 of 4 Harwich B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 20, 2013

On our travels we have been staying in quite a few B&Bs, but none of them have been as luxurious, comfortable and unique as Zig Zag Cottage. The building is from 1780 and absolutely beautiful.
We had a seperate breakfastroom downstairs, from where cast-iron spiral stairs lead to the livingroom, bathroom (with a lovely powershower) and bedroom upstairs. With a garden to sit in and a little balcony off the livingroom. All done up in an amazing fashion.
The breakfast is as lavish as you want it to be and served at the time that suits you (on our last day we needed to leave early to catch the ferry to Holland and 06.30 was no problem).
The people running Zig Zag Cottage are delightful and have an interesting past, which shows in the way they have decorated the cottage.
What is equally surprising is the price they charge. For all this comfort you'ld expect to pay more than average, instead it costs less than your average B&B or hotel. We definately make this our regular stop when we go to the UK!

Quiet, comfortable bedrooms, pristine bathroom and delicious breakfast: all very enjoyable and highly recommended. The private sitting-room is a lovely bonus. The Maybush Inn nearby served hearty Portuguese food.

We stayed for one night at Zig zag Cottage having being impressed by the reviews we had already read. We were made very welcome and given a tour of the accommodation which was spacious and immaculately clean. Breakfast was well presented and the table beautifully set out.
It did represent very good value for money and so many little extras were made available to make the visit memorable. We would recommend it as an unusual and very accommodating place to stay.

Stayed at ZigZag Cottage over a recent "Spring" weekend. Although weather outside was cold the reception inside was warm and wonderful from Marianne and Paul who have created a home from home in the beautiful East Anglian countryside. Two cosy bedrooms, a five star bathroom and a lounge area in a self-contained wing is like having your own holiday cottage with all the facilities but with a perfect home-cooked breakfast prepared for you in the morning! Warm rooms – electric blankets too, what a treat! – wooden floors and even an electric organ makes Zigzag cottage a place to visit and somewhere I plan to return, no matter what season. Highly recommended and stands out from the rest on location, amenities and of course that breakfast!

Marianne and Paul welcomed us to their beautifully refurbished period cottage. We could not have stayed anywhere that was so right for us, having complete privacey. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the icing on the cake is when you go down for breakfast which was supreme. You will not find better value anywhere. Neil and I would recommend Zig Zak Cottage B&B and hope to stay there again sometime in the future. Thanks for everything. Neil and Linda.

We stayed for two separate nights in Zig Zag cottage. We enjoyed our stay here so much the first time, we were looking forward to stay another night. And both times it was absolutely great. Very friendly people, good beds, beatiful bathroom, nice lounge area and a very tasty and complete breakfast at whatever time you need it (early!). You can park your car on the premises. Just great!
