My daughter and I visited this little cafe for the second time on Saturday, we had to wait for about 15 minutes to be seated as it is only a small eatery but this was no problem. We were shown to a table upstairs by one of the very pleasant and helpful young waitresses. Within minutes we were asked if we would like to order or did we want more time. I chose the homemade soup of the day which came with a hunk of wonderful homemade bread and butter, my daughter chose the the Prawn sandwich with prawns and Marie Rose sauce, when it came it was absolutely full of prawns on lovely thick sliced homemade bread. We picked one of the many homemade cakes each (Chocolate Orange Cake and Pear Frangipane tart), both delicious and very generous portions.
If you are in Saffron Walden it is a must, be it just for a cup of coffee or a spot of lunch or afternoon tea. As for the price it is worth every penny, in this case you get what you pay for.
