“Most helpful receptionist!”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

As will be seen from another of my reviews, my partner and I arrived about 5 pm in Blandford Forum with nowhere to say (just jumping in the car and hoping we would find accommodation). Unfortunately, as there was a wedding at the hotel, it was fully booked. The place looked charming and would, I am sure, been perfect for a one night stay. However, we would like to give praise to the hotel receptionist at the time we arrived, she was most helpful in finding us alternative accommodation, giving us names and telephone numbers for various bed and breakfast accommodation in the area. As it was, we ended up at The Langton Arms, which was unexpected and surprising in a very, very good way. Thank you.

We were looking for a place to have a meal while on a driving tour through Dorset. We stopped at the Crown Hotel and had dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was wonderful. The interior was "old world" and quite elegant. I could see they could accommodate large groups as well as a couple like us looking for a good meal at a reasonable price (not easy in England these days). The fireplace in the mail dining area, along with the classy drapes screamed for us to see the place at the Christmas holidays. Probably beautiful. Food was presented very well and quite tasty. This place comes with high commendations.

Stayed with my family recently, for the price we were pleased. The hotel is charming, not perfect but very pleasant. It could do with some money spent here and there but hey. Would stay there again. Need to write 150 characters apparently, which is dull. Must be there now

Hotel has an overall good appearance and atmosphere with good parking and fab location HOWEVER the hotel is overpriced for the quality of the rooms which are scruffy and tired with a ugly bathroom. The rooms are also very small and a lot have views onto a car park. We even had a metal spring sticking out of the mattress that we reported to the reception but during the two night stay nothing was done! Would not recommend unless the room rates drop below £70!!

We booked my daughter's wedding well in advance as this is a lovely place to hold a wedding and reception. We were not disappointed, from start to finish we were in excellent hands. Francesca the lady managing proceedings was brilliant, bringing a wealth of experience to us. The food was lovely plenty of it and very good quality. All the staff were friendly and smiled throughout. The evening disco was again well organisised and the food again brilliant. If I had two daughters I would again go to The Crown. But I have a son....Praise The Lord.. Many thanks to The Crown.

Room Tip: Not right by the main road, but even these are quite quiet.

I booked some 8 rooms at this property in June for family and friends attending my daughters wedding at nearby Larmer Tree Gardens. Clare Del Gallo, FOH Manager was fantastic and made sure our stay went smoothly, even though we had to change booking details several times! The hotel is sited in a nice village with some local shops and pubs, and has easy access to some great countryside. It's a very pretty building and very old, the rooms were in-keeping with the hotel style and the pictures on their site do not do them justice - they are lovely. We had the executive room to the front of the hotel, which had a victorial bath and really comfy bed. Breakfast was great and bar area very restful, with attentive staff. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would definitely recommend this hotel and will visit again.

Room Tip: I would ask for rooms which face the front of the hotel ideally, or side view to the road, those at...

We go in here on spec or as planned. We have coffees ..with complimentry shortbread, a light lunch ..in the restaurant or in the more casual bar area ..same menu in both, and it is always good.

last week we had a lunch ..crab mayo sandwiches and a spritzer for me , cider for him. Easy parking, in the restaurant with linen napkins etc. Great mid week treat ..highly civilised.
