“An enjoyable stay”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

I stayed here because of the nearness to the town and price. I would say a little over priced however... The room was clean and airy. Downside was that it overlooked the road junction and so was a bit noisy and felt like a goldfish bowl. Free wifi worked well which was a bonus for me. The staff were very friendly and food was good. I ate there on the evening and was impressed. In fact no hesitation to return.

Room Tip: Don't overlook the main road

We stayed for a night with friends. Nice little hotel in the center of Lyme Regis. Rooms are small with low ceilings due to the building being old. Service is good and value for money reasonable, nice breakfast and bar with patio. Free parkin

Having read the reviews on trip advisor I was really disappointed with the hotel. The standard double room we were allocated was certainly not worth the £130 night we were charged. I can only think it is the worst room in the hotel. This is despite booking 4 weeks in advance and requesting a nice room. The ensuite bathroom was a joke. It was the width of the shower cubicle and perhaps just about 2 square metres in total making it impossible to dry off after a shower! There was not enough space to hang all our towels. When we came back after a walk in town the housekeeping staff had left a wet towel on the bed! The room did not look as though it had been cleaned and the bed not properly made. The hall and stairs need redecorating and the threadbare carpets should be replaced. Breakfast was also below par. The waitress was very friendly but forgot to bring toast and condiments. After a reminder the toast arrived soggy and cold. However we did enjoy dinner both evenings and the waiting staff at dinner were very helpful and friendly.
Had the cost of the room been around £90 I would still have been disappointed but at £130 it just does not compare with the quality, style and comfort of other hotels at this price.

Room Tip: Do not stay in room 14. It's noisy, very basic and 'ensuite' is so small there's no...

Stayed one evening in summer. A lovely welcome great staff- really friendly and kind and good position for travelling. Food in the evening is good but the breakfast was by contrast a little bit too seaside traditional ( menu from the 1970s). Grapefruit segments (tinned ) and prunes, and packets of cereal with weak perculated coffee make for a less than hearty start. I felt this was poor and such a shame in contrast to the rest of the experience.

Room Tip: Do not choose rooms at the front of the hotel if you want quiet and views.

I stayed on a Sunday evening at the end of July (so getting into high season). Firstly, the hotel is pretty well appointed at the top of a hill on the road from Uplyme into Lyme Regis. This road leads straight down to the sea front and The Cobb! The hotel has decent private car parking facilities across the road. The staff were helpful and friendly and the bar, reception, lounge and restaurant facilities were nicely furnished, light and homely. There was a nice looking garden too but I didn't venture in there. My twin room for single occupancy was also nicely and smartly furnished. The breakfast was good as well as my dinner (good value too). Only two down marks are that the common passageways were in need of updating and my room was situated above the lounge and bar exit to the downstairs ladies loo facilities and a staff storage room. So there was a bit of noise until late and then early from swinging fire doors!
