I stayed for a week with my wife I am very happy to say that it is there as one of the best Hotels. Karen and James are very welcoming from that moment you step trough the door and throughout your stay. Nothing is too much for them to do to make your stay a relaxed and for you to have an enjoyable time. I thought the menu might have been a little restrictive but was proved wrong find a dish that suited my taste every night was for the food that all the delights of home cooking.
Well done and thanks for all your extra help

I stayed for 3 nights in this Hotel, with my wife and young son (2yrs old). I am very happy to say that it is right up there as one of the best Hotels I have ever stayed in. The owners are a fantastic couple who introduce themselves as Karen and James and it is from that moment on throughout your stay that you will understand how very welcoming you have been made and how nothing is too much for them to do to make your stay a relaxed and for you to have an enjoyable time. We were there for a family wedding and the hotel was being used almost exclusively by our side of the family who had travelled from all over the world for this wedding and by the end of everyone’s stay, when you come to say goodbye outside the Hotel the genuine remarks that were being made about the accommodation and friendly atmosphere were really quite fantastic, as you usually find on this sort of thing there is at least one person who has a bad word on something but that was simply just not the case here. The greatest sense of appreciation was for the fantastic food that was all home cooked, and the breakfast just perfect, that not even the "Hotel Inspector" could have made a negative comment on it !!. The next most common praise was the family atmosphere that can be found at not just 0830 in the restaurant during breakfast but also 0100 in the morning on return from the wedding reception where there is a fully stocked Honesty Bar it was just like coming home to your front room and having a night cap before off to bed, there was no one hovering around waiting for your glasses and shutting the bar to make the point you need to go off to bed !! It was simply home from home, and for us the most special thing of all was the way in which our 2 year old son was treated, the owners have a little daughter of their own and she played and shared her toys with our son just like a big sister, and outside in the lovely kept gardens there was everything from a big trampoline to a adventure climbing frame and at one count 9 different balls and games, scooters, trikes, and even a sit on toy tractor, very fitting for the area of the country !!
To sum up all in all I would recommend this Hotel to everyone who goes to the Lyme Regis area be it for a Holiday or special event, you must sample this atmosphere simply "PERFECT".

We stayed at Orchard Country for family gathering in May 2010. Between us we booked six rooms for the weekend and negotiated a bit of a discount (£10 of each room) The superior doubles are very nice spacious and well furnished, the standard rooms (at just £5 cheaper) are disappointing, being small and frankly shabby.
We had traveled from all over the country arriving friday evening so we opted to dine at the hotel on our first evening, i had read some comments from previous guests which were all positive so this seemed a safe bet. The menu was priced at £20 a head for 3 courses plus coffee and mints; the choice was limited; three starters one of which was fruit juice! Three mains and four desserts one of which was cheese and another ice cream. Well i thought at least it will be home cooked; in fact most of it was not; the pate was basic supermarket, most of the veg was frozen and the cheese sauce on the sloppy cauliflower tasted as if it came from a packet. All in all pretty poor fare. I have to report breakfast was not much better, there was a good selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurt but the "Full English" was nothing special (one of our party asked for poached eggs on toast as an alternative, she was presented with a single overcooked egg on one piece of toast, which is just plain mean)
On the positive side; this is a family run hotel and they are very friendly, it is peaceful, the gardens great for sitting outside if weather permits and they operate an honesty policy when the bar is not staffed, you just write down what you have had and settle up later, great if you want to stay up late.
We paid £90 per night for B&B, this would be just about right for the superior rooms with a better breakfast, for the basic rooms i feel that it was overpriced by at least £25, i might have been prepared to forgive the price if the food had been better (I will forgive a lot for a great breakfast)
