“A tranquil place”

Well worth a visit. The abbey is under going renovation at present but that does not detract from the splendor of the place. Great dining facility.

“Beautiful Grounds to Walk In”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

We came for a visit in October. We decided to do one of the marked walks. We did the long route. I am glad we did as it was wonderful walking through green fields full of sheep and through the oak woods and the views were beautiful. After we had our walk, we had afternoon tea in the National Trust cafe. We did not have time to go into the Abbey itself but definitely will come back on another occasion

“A great visit”
Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

We recently visited here for the day and we had a really enjoyable and interesting time. We had a guided tour that we'd whole heartedly recommend as you get to see places you wouldn't otherwise and the guide is very knowledgable (and he was very good). The Abbey is steeped in history and we will visit again (and again)! The Rembrandt painting was incredible as is Drake's drum. There was so much to see and well worth several visits. The food in the restaurant was lovely and filling and all the staff we met were enthusiastic and very friendly. Thank you x
