“Wonderfull stay”

Very friendly hosts, good breakfast! And a very plesant location. Nice surroundings, and a lovely cottage-style house, where you feel at ease right away. Just put the kettle on!
You can visit some nice little towns in the neighbourhood, or just walk in the area of Dartmoor, very peacefull and beautifull

Room Tip: Rent a bicycle!

We arrived late afternoon after a long journey to be met by Amanda who immediately put our family at ease and from the start of our stay made us so relaxed. Our rooms were very clean and appliances were first class. Situated on a winding lane it is easily accessible to Yelverton and Clearbrooke which are lovely places to visit and only 9 miles from Plymouth. I would advise anyone to stay here and are counting the days to our next visit.

We promised Amanda and Michael we would review their hotel and apologise for leaving it so many weeks after our lovely stay to do so. We have not forgotten their wonderfully warm hospitality back in April! The weather was wet and miserable when we arrived on a grey Sunday afternoon to be greeted by two sunny folk who had just returned from a long walk in their pretty countryside. Tea and scones were promptly served in front of the fire after we had been shown to the master bedroom, ours for two comfortable nights. A large double aspect room with plenty of fine furniture, a comfy king size bed and and all mod cons in the ensuite bathroom. All beautifully clean and feeling like home from home rather than a hotel. On Michael's recommendation we dined at an ancient local inn and were not disappointed with either atmosphere or food. Full English breakfast was excellent with the additional choice of fresh fruit, juices and preserves all beautifully presented on the sideboards. On our last night we dined in, enjoying a lovely home-cooked three course meal prepared by Amanda and served in style by Michael, preceded by drinks in the cosy bar. We could not fault the hospitality, comfort and food at Harrabeer. All that is needed for the discerning traveller who prefers a homely fine quality B&B to a corporate feel hotel. Throw in two lovely hoteliers who cannot do enough for their guests and you could not wish for more. After such a short stay it was amazing that we felt we had left two new friends whom we hope to see again one day.

Room Tip: Go for the Master bedroom if available.

It may seem strange to have a review written by someone who hasn't stayed here, but we don't have any spare guest rooms in our home, so every time family or friends want to visit us, we know they will have a wonderful stay at the Harrabeer and we book them a room or one of the apartments in the barn conversion. They always love it and are as sorry to say goodbye to Amanda and Michael as they are us! Breakfasts are delicious and the rooms (which we have seen) are absolutely lovely. Our son and his family recently stayed in one of the apartments and it was absolutely gorgeous. So - we highly recommend it to everyone - you won't be disappointed, we feel sure.

Great communication and a very warm welcombe tea and scone on arrival ( off to a great start )
Made to feel welcombe but left alone not to feel overbearing perfect .
as an older property with charicter but every room imaculatey hoovered and clean which is all you could every ask for on a period property.
We paid what i would consider a very good rate under £90 which included breakfast which was very hot and cooked to perfection and nothing was too much trouble, only downsides if any
wifi not that good coverage in room but downstairs in bar area very good .

We stayed one night at the Harrabeer last weekend. We had warm welcome with tea and scones from Amanda who a made a great fuss of our daughter. The hotel has a nice relaxed atmosphere, the rooms are very clean, our beds were very comfortable and we had a great view of Dartmoor. Throughout our short stay both Amanda and Michael were very attentive and great hosts. The generous breakfast was very tasty with a wide choice of options and served by Michael with friendly banter!

There were many nice touches that showed the owners are very thoughtful towards their guests needs and we would certainly recommend this hotel to any visitor, including families who visit Dartmoor.

The good reviews here influenced our choice and we were not dissapointed. Amanda and Michael are friendly and helpful. The food is sumptuous and perfectly cooked (the cooked breakfast was to die for, if a little large for my petite wife; we had a lighter breakfast on the second day). The room was spotless of course with everything needed. The beds were probably the most comfortable we have slept in at a hotel as far as I can remember.
Recommended!
