Took my wife, mother & mother in law plus 2 children for Sunday lunch, whilst the food was good, being mothers day it was very busy, there was only one chef at the carvery. Hence we all queued for 35 minutes to get our meal. I think this is unacceptable. We were sat in the marquee which was heated by a large blower type heater, which was fine until it was turned off towards the end of our main course. We really wanted to stay for a sweet & coffee and just relax after the meal, but the room went so cold we just paid the bill and left. Very disappointing, we wont be going back in a hurry, nor recommending. Such a shame not much thought gone into the preparation for the day by management.

Will definitely stay at Lakeview Manor again. We had a warm friendly welcome and stayed in "little groom". It was small and cosy with an en suite bathroom which was spotlessly clean. We specifically asked for a double bed as don't like twin beds pushed together. We had very efficient, friendly service at the bar and restaurant. The food was plentiful and tasty. We went for a short stroll around the lakes and saw 4 deer and geese and 2 beautiful horses being hosed down by jodhpur clad riders in the stable area obviously after a long hack. Absolutely charming place and we look forward to going back soon.

Upon arrival the greeting was poor to non existent, we were just told where the room was, no time taken to advise us of what we could do or see whilst staying as this was a surprise present. When we found our way to the room there was no welcome pack or guide of information. The cooked breakfast was just warm and not freshly cooked just re-heated it would seem, the beans and sausage tasted off. The breakfast the following day was just as bad, i didnt have the full english owing to the day before, i had the fish with scrambled egg and muffin, another mistake i should of just had toast or gone to a cafe (pity there wasnt one). I feel the price of the food was expensive for what you received. We didnt eat an evening meal we found a better restaurant to eat in in the evening which was better value for money, as we were put off by the breakfast. The bar was not always attended so if you wanted another drink you had to wait for service or would of been quicker to help yourself!. In general I feel the only thing that was of any good was the location, makes me wonder why the name was changed.

In a peaceful setting, we had a delightful break at Lakeview with a Tickles offer. It was a fantastic deal. We would strongly recommend this hotel. The accommodation was excellent, large bed and double shower; the fact it was outside the main hotel did not detract, it was a recently refurbished spotless room. The food was very good. Last but not least, the staff were very friendly and could not do enough to help. Special mention goes to Kerry and Richard - a big thank you for a lovely break. We would love to return.

We stayed using a deal cloud offer for 2 nights. Could not fault the rooms, a tad small but beautiful, clean and warm. Food in restaurant lovely as was breakfast. The place is remote but we wanted a peaceful break and that's what we got.
Would return again!

I can only echo the comments of previous reviewers. A nice secluded hideaway Hotel in the Devon countryside.clean and tidy with welcoming staff and well cooked food.

If any criticism's can be made they would be that the room in the outside block was rather on the small side with gaps around the door frames but the heavy curtains keep the drought out and the heating can be turned up.The room was overall very clean other than the bath was not cleaned prior to arrival.

Just returned from this hotel on a dealcloud offer, and were not disappointed. We did have to resort to using the Sat Nav to find it, but the hotel is in a lovely setting, away from it all by a lake. The accomodation was just across the drive from the bar and restaurant, and we arrived to a clean and warm room on a Winter's day.Our bed was made and the hospitality tray was topped up on the 2nd morning, while we'd gone for breakfast conveniently. The bar area had a relaxing ambiance created with thoughtful lighting and seating and wood panneling on the walls and no Sky Sports TV-hooray!). We had a cream tea included in our deal, which we thoroughly enjoyed after a morning's fresh air and exercise at Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. The customer service was excellent, prompt, warm and with a smile, without being pompous and over the top. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings. The food was delicious and not over-priced. We had wine included with our meal in our offer. The breakfast was hearty and plentiful, and kept us going well into the afternoon. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, for the service alone. Knowing they had a private function to cater for in another room, the Manager Julie came and checked all the dining residents were happy, meals ok, and if we required anything else at that point. All staff were equally attentive to customers needs. They are extremely well organised.Even while showing a couple round the hotel who were enquiring about a wedding, the Manager checked we were ok. She oozed everything I expect of excellent customer service. She was constantly aware of our presence and it was her desire that we were completely satisfied.A great ambassador for warm customer service. We could do with a lot more of that these days! Thanks to all staff at Lakeview Manor for our enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We appreciated that we were in a room upstairs only so that we didn't have so many people going...
