Woodlands Camping and Caravan Park
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Just returned from the very noisy, dirty and out dated woodlands! Never to return again! The warden and reception staff where rude and had no regard for customer service, in need of refresher training in that area! Very run down and rowdy. I have visited the twin lakes site and found them to be much more helpfull. Some form of consistent monitoring of noise levels needed, particularly round the games room. To have that open 24 hrs is asking for trouble! Disappointed with the site considering how much it cost to stay, could have stayed 5* hotel for same money.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. I am very sorry to hear you were not happy with your recent visit to Woodlands as that is not what we want for our guests and not what our previous reviews would suggest. We believe and as you can see from other reviews our prices are seen as great value and have been held since 2011. We have wardens on site 24 hours a day who work very hard to keep the sign clean and provide a very high level of customer service. We wouldn't be able to win the awards we do If the site wasn't clean and the staff wasn't pleasant. We hope in the future you may give Woodlands Grove another chance to show what a fantastic campsite it is.

This is the first time our family had ever been camping so I was a bit apprehensive but there was absoloutley no need to be. As soon as we arrived at Woodlands Grove we were greeted by helpful staff, who explained everything in detail to us, then we were shown to our plot by a warden where we pitched up. There was plenty of room and the facilities (showers, toilets, family wash rooms) were really well maintaind and clean.
We also had access to the Theme Park/Zoo and could come and go as we liked. The rides were excellent (my two little girls loved the water rides and the boat) and there was loads of play areas to keep them busy.
On site you had a general store which was well stocked if you forgot or needed anything and there was plenty of places where you could grab a snack. The Pizza takeaway was great if you didnt fancy cooking and if you really needed a big shop, you had a sainsburys 10mins away in the car.
I would truely recommend this camping site to anyone, with or without children!

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at woodlands with our Son, Daughter there partners and 6 Kids. First impressions were good, Really friendly reception staff that were very helpful. Then it got worse. The shower and toilet block although looked clean on the surface were quite disgusting in some places, there was excreatment smeared on toilet cubicle walls that was still there after cleaning. Far from adequate for the number of campers as we spent more time queing for showers, toilets, washing and washing up sinks than the kids did for the rides on the theme park which by the way was quite a while sometimes over 40 minutes. Teenage kids running amok in the games room and hanging over balconies spitting and hurling foul mouthed abuse at whoever passed under right next to our allocated pitches. Throwing cans and rubbish at the smaller kids as they walked by. Quite loud and until quite late into the night. When we went to complain about this we were met with a very arrogant put up or leave reaction from 1 of the wardens and was told to go to reception we got the same attitude there. It was not until other concerned parents also complained that anything was done. The theme park has seen better days and all the rides are quite outdated if we had gone for the day and paid the prices that are charged we would have been very upset at what the kids got for there money. If this is Devons best theme park as per the advertisement then don't bother with any that Devon has to offer. Would never visit Woodlands again. Very Poor and there is a lot better in the area.

I am very sorry to hear you were not happy with your recent visit to Woodlands as that is not what we want for our guests and not what our previous reviews would suggest. We have always been very proud of the job our wardens do, both in terms of keeping facilities scrupulously clean and in their level of customer service. We wouldn't be able to achieve the standards we do and receive the awards we do if our facilities weren't clean and our staff not pleasant. They make every effort to perform their role to the best of their ability. I hope that you may in the future give us another chance to show you our excellent level of service Woodlands Grove has to offer.

We camped here from the 10 - 17 August 2013.Me, my husband, son aged 12, daughter 10, and baby aged 1 who has additional needs. Along with my Sister-in-law and her family. This site was recommended to us by a friend who stayed out of season last year as she knew I needed a really clean site. I have to say that we were delighted with the actual park it is kept spotless. This is the only campsite I've been on where I have actually felt clean all week due to the wonderful washing facilities. The wardens were extremely friendly and helpful too.

Being on a very tight budget I was delighted to find that virtually all the rides in the theme park were free - not the case in many others. We think that the whole park has been well designed and thought about with plenty to do in rainy weather too. My children also enjoyed seeing the zoo animals and spent quite a lot of time on the outdoor play areas. My husband enjoyed the zip wire too!

The only thing that it hasn't got is a swimming pool which is a shame although to be fair all of the ones that have have been tiny and dirty but maybe it's something that the management could consider for the future as I know it would be kept spotless too.

We have been camping for years and this campsite is the best yet! We look forward to seeing you soon! Thanks once again, Vicky Sergeant and family

This is the first time that we have stayed at Woodlands but it won't be the last. We arrived at the end of the heatwave and the ground was solid as rock. One of the wardens lent us his mallet and we finally managed to get our tent pegs in! We camped on one of the all weather pitches. The only mistake that we made was pitching in the middle of the gravel which meant that we were treading stones into the tent all week. Will learn from that one!!
Our pitch was ideally situated fairly close to the toilet block and not too far from the shop/park entrance either. There was some passing noise but very little and we did hear the wardens on the one night ask someone to keep the noise down.
The toilets and showers were really clean and despite the site looking pretty full, I only had to queue for a shower once and that was only for a few minutes.
The major highlight for us though was being able to go in and out of the park, particularly in the evening as it gave our children the chance to wear themselves out. We spent a few days just staying on site and going into the park although we did venture further afield too.
We are already planning to book again for next year but will be taking a very strong mallet - just in case!

This is the second time we have been to woodlands and again we had a great time, this time we went in season (as last time we went out of season) the only negative thing i have to say is the amount of children hanging around the toilet blocks late at night being loud, but on a positive they had dispersed by about 10.30 which is quiet time, and this is not woodlands fault

ALL of the staff were so friendly and helpful and there was always someone around in case you needed help with anything, all of the toilets and shower blocks were very very clean,

Sainsburys and lidle are just down the road, and if your going to the beach the lower ferry to paignton takes no time at all, and a great crabbing beach is Goodrington sands

We have reserved our pitchs for next year and cant wait

Thank you woodlands

Our 3rd stay at the site, and the facilities and staff were first class as normal. The main problem was the amount of noise at night. We had loud music and screaming kids until midnight accompanied by there obviously drunk parents shouting to each other for most of the fortnight. Although there are wardens on site all the time, they don't bother to address the noise problem at all. We ended up leaving a couple of nights early, because it's a nightmare when you have young kids to get to sleep.
