Every time we go to the Normandy Arms, we always get a wonderful welcome & the food is delicious.

We popped in for a drink in the summer & sat in the garden, asked for some snacks & we were pleasantly surprised by a couple of home made scotch eggs with home made chutney, all served with a smile.

Curry night was packed with a wait list, good job we booked early, so many different dishes, great flavours, we were encouraged to try everything, with each dish explained to us. Need to do this more often, can't wait for the next special evening.

Presentation is excellent, with a lot of time & care spent on the flavours and textures of each dish, one of the few places where you do not feel hurried. All the bread is homemade which is a bonus.

My favourite starter is the goats's cheese with beetroot, several different varieties, the goat's cheese is whipped to make it really light.

Main's they are all lovely, & change often, its always hard to choose, what we also like is that most of the produce is sourced locally.

A rare gem, well worth a visit.

Today (20th Dec 2012) was our first visit to the Normandy Arms. We all had a fish and chip lunch there and it was absolutely superb! The fish was so fresh and cooked in a wonderful tasting batter and the home made chips were real prize winners! The home made ice cream 'afters' was ice cream at it's very best! We will definately be dining here again. Many thanks for a superb dining experience. John, Don & Dave

My wife and I recently enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch at this rural village 'gastro pub'. Flavours and presentation were first class. Stand out dishes were the two fish based starters and a SUBLIME chocolate cheese cake and chocolate flavoured ice cream. Clearly home-made by a very talented chef!

Waitress was friendly, genuine and kind, but the overall front of house/service element was quite disjointed and slow and therefore not up to the very high standards of the of kitchen.

The new owner/head chef deserves to do very well as he is clearly keen to keep the village pub & food element alive for the locals (unlike some other village pubs in the area who pandered to the more well off holiday trade and thought they could 'ditch' the locals -- they've invariably fail).

We'll definitely return soon.

I last visited Normandy Arms a few years ago and had a bad experience. Under new owners the Normandy is back to its old self, serving good quality food in a warm setting. Blazing log fire welcomes you, and the effecient staff looked after your every need. The price was not excessive either.
