I know everyone likes to support the up and coming, the different and the unusual but this place really does do great food very well indeed.
We have a week in Padstow and been to a few places before but they squeezed us in for a late lunch after a wet walk all morning by the sea.
It probably felt better after the rain but the food, the service, the surroundings and the service were top-notch. It’s always easy to criticise but this place felt personal.
We are fish lovers but did go for tomato soup and Vietnamese chicken salad for starters. Soup lovely, salad biting and dancing on the taste buds. We went with an Asahi beer and a G and T with a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at around £35 but they had a reasonable choice well below and above this.
It all took off with the main courses of Moules with cream and cod fish curry. Please take a look at the picture but we WILL be going back. Absolutely lovely. Well balanced, fresh and an utter delight. I left pleasantly full and utterly satisfied. Couldn’t force a desert down as it could have spoilt the pleasure but not in a bad way. Lovely!!
Don’t be put off by it being a Rick Stein place. They are good for a reason and deserve their reputation. Looking for an excuse for going back to try the cashew nut Sri-Lankan curry and I’m a confirmed meat and fish eater. You should to!!
