“Needs some attention”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

This is a perfectly pleasant bistro type restaurant next door to a pub, with which it shares a kitchen. You might therefore compare prices and see where you want to eat.

Our original dessert was not available because an order in the pub took precedence. The service also put pub staff first.

And the bill was incorrect.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

We were in Padstow on the 8th and 9th of February. We'd not booked anything for the Friday evening so during the day looked out for somewhere to eat and decided on here.

The food and service were very good as I suspect they need to be to survive in Padstein. After the meal we sat in the comfy sofa in front of the fire and watched to world go by. We both enjoyed the meal every bit as much as the Rick Stein Cafe that we went to on the Saturday night.

“No lunch for us here !”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

Having booked into the Metropole hotel for a few days, we walked into the town to find a good place for a vegie lunch. My wife took a particular fancy to this restaurant - it looked inviting and there was some vegetarian dishes on the dinner menu outside, so in we went.
After a discussion with the "host" we were told that the only vegetarian food they had on the lunch menu was a starter of deep fried brie. We asked if they could offer something as a main dish - maybe something from their evening menu - but were told the chef couldn't do that, so we left! This is not a cheap restaurant and we were prepared to pay at least £60 or £70 for a good lunch with wine - how sad that in this day and age that a good restaurant doesn't cater for vegetarians. I know this is basically a fish restaurant but in a group of 4 or so there is often one vegetarian - very short sighted of them!

“Great food and lovely people!”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

We have just returned from a Tuesday evening at Pescadou, and felt compelled to review this restaurant! We enjoyed a lovely meal with great service. In January there are not the usual great choice of restaurants open in Padstow, especially at the beginning of the week, however thank goodness for Pescadou, with a warm welcome, quality menu choice and a good Sauvignon house wine, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you.

“No expectations....uninspiring”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We stopped here because it looked pretty from the outside and the menu look ok, if a little limited. The chowder starter was ok albeit strangely sweet! Our main meals were bland and uninspiring, and the side dish of carrots tasted like they had been cooking for days..fine for a stew, not good for a side dish!!!
Paying the bill was a chore, the staff didn't seem interested, it was almost as though they had served us so we were no longer important to them!!!
We wouldn't bother going there again :(
