Visited Padstow on a beautiful sunny day. The harbour area was busy, with lots of interesting boats to look at. We ate fish and chips there from Rick Stein's fish and chip shop, and had drinks outside The Shipwrights Inn, a lovely traditional pub overlooking the harbour. Heaven! There are lots of interesting shops, nice restaurants and pubs close by. Such a lovely spot; I can't wait to go back!

This is clearly a working harbour and it is not the most picturesque in Cornwall by a long way. The Camel estuary just outside is however very nice and it is worth a walk along the cliff path and then along the beach at low tide to enjoy the scenic estuary or take the ferry over to Rock. The good news is that Padstow is of course a bit of a foodie centre as a result of the efforts of Messrs Stein and Ainsworth plus a host of outlets purveying freshly made Cornish Pasties. So go there by all means and just don't get too excited about the prospect of a quaint and picturesque harbour because that it is not.

A great time to visit is outside of the toursit season!!
Unfortunately the London Inn was NOT welcoming to non locals, in fact we were made to feel most unwelcome by those already in there drinking... it never used to be this way...

Padstow is so pretty, there is such a lot to see and do, from it's little harbour which is surrounded by lovely shops (which are different from the normal high street ones), ice cream parlours, art galleries eateries and coffee shops to the stunning views across the estuary towards Rock. There is seating at the harbour and we enjoy buying delicious goodies from the Chough Bakery which offers as well as pasties savory items too and sit and take in and savour the atmosphere and buzz of the harbour and it's surrounds. Such a picturesque town which has lots to offer but is compact in size which we always look forward to visiting when travelling in Cornwall.
