We stay in Padstow at least once a year and use the Harbour Inn as our 'old reliable' pub/eating house. The staff (especially Steve) are so welcoming and helpful. As a St Austell Brewery supplied pub you can always rely on the beer being good but also they do some good wines as well!. The food is high quality pub grub and they always have at least 2 or 3 'specials' on even out of season. We are always surprised that it is not busier (though we are generally there 'off pea'k) but hey I don't like over busy pubs anyway so I am not complaining. But, if you look through the window and think 'that's a bit quiet, can't be much good' you'd be so wrong. Looking forward to going back again!

We found this place on a short break holiday in February. Our lunch was excellent and the beer was great. The landlord was most helpful getting a disabled member of our group into the bar. It deserves a much larger clientele than was apparent on the day we were there.

Lovely find on a blustery cold February Sunday late afternoon. After a day out in the cold we decided to have a quick look at Padstow, maybe get some fish & chips. So pleased we didn't bother with the cafeteria style chippie on the harbour and found this instead. Warm and friendly. Dog friendly (In the bar only which is understandable.) Nice pint. Staff lovely. Had the atmosphere of a local which I think is a great achievement given where it is. I had their last Sunday roast (Turkey) which was plentiful and delicious. Veggies were very al dente. I like them like that so it was fine for me. Hubbie had the chilli which had a decent proper kick and again a decent portion. Didn't really notice how long it took to arrive as we were enjoying a drink and chat. If you're not after airs and graces and just want a decent meal in a friendly warm pub this is the place.

Flying visit to Padstow on a damp and cold Sunday in February and stumbled in to the Harbour Inn. We were met with a very friendly and hospitable welcome and served a beautifully kept pint of Ale.
The highlight though was the Sunday roast. I have to be honest and say that I am not convinced that the beef was roasted and carved in their kitchen, but it was very tasty and tender. Everything else on the plate, and there was plenty, looked home cooked and was absolutely delicious. We loved the way it was served in a shallow bowl so that there was capacity for lashings of the wonderful gravy. All of this for £8.99 each in a tourist hot spot right by the harbour - fantastic.

It's strange that a place that serves really delicious, great value pub grub isn't more busy. This pub is usually quiet, which means you have the pick of the place (head for the sofa). It does lack that 'vibe' that lots of the places in Padstow have so perhaps that why... Either way Padstow has its fair share of expensive eateries and this is not one. The menu is simple and very well priced. We both had chilli garlic prawns to start - they were really tasty - felt like we were being cooked for by a friend. No fancy extras just simply what it says on the menu. It was filling with the warm bread dipped in the sauce. For mains we had chilli con carne with rice and garlic bread - beautifully homemade with a fair amount of kick - the bacon cheese burger, homemade chips (bonus) and salad - this was quite a portion!! The burger was big and chunky. Our eyes were a lot bigger than our bellies and therefore we couldn't even really get started. I asked if we could get our food wrapped up to take away - the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Made delicious meals the second time round too. Don't expect anything flashy - just good home cooked food and you'll be happy.

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the mains we were too busy trying to eat them.
