OK, getting there and back in our large motorhome is a test of nerves, but it's perfectly feasible with a spot of care and consideration for other vehicles - and the beach at the end of the road makes it more than worthwhile.

There's a long expanse of clean, firm sand at low tide and the rock pools are simply amazing, particularly the near Olympic-size 'swimming pool' which is best viewed from the coastal path above.

Not an expert on surfing, but the waves look pretty good to me. There's a café at the local youth hostel overlooking the bay, and a camp site for tents, caravans and motorhomes through the static caravans behind the car park. Sleep overnight, then walk straight down to a beautiful beach - what could be better?

Had a glorious coastal walk from Porthcothan to Treyarnon bay, a clean sandy beach with good surf. Lunched at the YHA which in previous years has been superb, sadly like much of this area the menu has been modernised to try and appear contemporary. It is now a poor selection which is vastly overpriced, we ordered quesadillas which was actually a dry tortilla wrap, grilled with sliced chicken nuggets inside. If you fancy this walk start at Treyarnon, walk to Porthcothan and treat yourself to lunch at Berryfields a hidden gem!

This is a clean and comparatively safe beach. Walk away from the car park along the cliffs past the Youth Hostel and the views just get better. Plenty of benches to sit on and the cafe at the Youth Hostel does a great coffee to warm you up.

On the coast road from Newquay to Padstow look out for Treyarnon bay, We took our kids there many times years ago and called in again for old times sake, lots of lovely beah and a natural rock pool to swim in, caravan park on the approach and one of the best spots in Cornwall, love the place a nd will return. Pubs nearby on to enjoy local fare which we have sampled without complaint but remeber to bok as it gets busy in season especially with Harlsnd Bay also being close.

Beautiful sandy beach surrounded by large rocks and rock pools, ideal for exploring. Walk out over the headland and enjoy the breathtaking views and watch the waves crashing over the rocks. Walk further and enjoy the beautiful Constantine Bay and Boobys Bay. Absolutely Stunning all along here but the headland at Treyarnon is my FAVOURITE.
