“Private Breakfast!”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Second visit to the Seafood Restaurant and this time we stayed in Room 5. Enormous balcony with seating for many, stunning location, even though the storms were raging! Parked the car with ease in front of the building for £7 despite it being 23rd December, was relatively quiet around town.
The room was really nicely decorated, the duck egg blue paint on the beams was ingenious to avoid that oppressive feeling of beamed rooms. The bed was the comfiest I think I've ever experienced, including the sumptuous bedding and pillows. Having the Molton Brown is always a winner and the mini bar facilities were really well priced. The location is incredible, with immediate access to all the facilities in Padstow. I didn't realise that guests got a discount voucher for the merchandise in Rick's various shops around town, we made the most of it and our Chihuahua ( who on this occasion didn't come) fully appreciates his 'Chalky's Paws' fleeces blanket that we bought him. I would definitely take my dog next time, Padstow was full of beautiful doggies walking around. ( didn't see any evidence at all that this was a dog friendly hotel - which is a credit to the housekeeping team)

Meal in the evening was stunning and it was great to be amongst the last guests to retire to bed, the icing on the cake was breakfast the next morning- The restaurant to ourselves and freshly cooked kedgeree to die for! Really impressed with the breakfast, a hot dish to order and a little table of cold produce to help yourself to. 100% recommend this to anyone and we'll stay again. Visited the lobster hatchery as we bought our wedding favours here ( what a great thing to adopt a lobster in the name of all guests) and adopted a few more, fascinating to see the tiny tiny lobsters in the nursery before release into the ocean, urge all seafood lovers to support their charity in promoting sustainable eating.

Room Tip: Room 5- What a view

We stayed at the Seafood Restaurant mid November for a short break. The room was large but no view which we had expected. There was a large bedpost in front of the TV, we had to lean either side. The window was stuck, and it was either too hot or too cold. For the high cost, it really was just average, although the bathroom was huge and warm. The evening restaurant food was too expensive and disappointing. Still not convinced that fish curry, at Madras strength, works; and when you order Fish and Chips in this restaurant you expect something special, not just eight chips. Come on Rick Stein, you can do better!!

Whilst the restaurant has its failings this hotel has none. Rooms are spacious bright well equipped and it is obvious designer has stayed in hotels. Great views over the estuary and a relaxed garden in front make this a superior adjunct to the restaurant. You let yourself come and go and there is relatively little noise apart from the gravel on the Car park when cars arrive. A relaxed quality stay well worth the expense

If you love seafood this is the place, the freshest and best cooked ever. But where it excels is the staff, so friendly and helpful, they make the place exceptional. Can't wait for a return visit, look out for winter deals.

Wonderful break with fantastic food!
Stayed at St Petrocs in Prospect House just around the corner. We had a fabulous room with a terrace which had table, chairs and sun loungers, pity it was in winter our stay as this would be ideal for chilling out in the sun.
The room was beautiful, modern and was suitable for disabled too. Even had a little lift which I used after a night out to save the steps up!
The breakfast was lovely with first class muesli and fresh fruit...masses of strawberries and raspberries in November! The cooked was good too and the walnut bread just made it.
The Bistro food was lovely but for an experience the Seafood Restaurant was AMAZING, and not silly small portions either.
I had deep fried Helford River shrimp to start with garlic mayo dip, the plate was piled high with these little wonders, which you eat whole, no fiddling around with these. Main course was a lovely dish, fish, scallops, mussels and langoustine in the most delicious of broths, with a hint of India methinks Rick after your lovely trip there?
Well maybe I shouldn't have had dessert after all that which was very filling, but who can resist, not me, so I had the Pannacotta with plum and ice cream, wow!
My only disappointment was the fact that there was Pâté foi Grasse on the menu, which should be a no no, Rick please note.
My hubby had booked this couple of days break for my birthday and I have to say, "we'll done Phil, you surpassed yourself".
We will put this on our list of favourite hotels and restaurants which we hope to return to.
