“Fantastic weekend in superb accommodation”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We had a fantastic 2 night stay.

The room was of a very high standard and there was plenty of room, even with the double sofa bed out to accommodate our 2 children.

Staff could not have been more helpful.

As the hotel is small we were comfortable eating downstairs after our children had gone to bed. The baby monitor worked easily (we were probably closer to them than we usually our in our house). Food was a real treat.

Car parking is available a 2 minute walk away. It's undercover but quite a tight squeeze. However, if you can't manoeuvre your car competently, my suggestion would be not to bring it to Cornwall!

We took advantage of the bikes they had available to borrow and had a great cycle along the Camel trail to Wadebridge.

Myself and my husband made our second visit here this week. Our last visit was on Our honeymoon two years ago. We were impressed then and our opinion hasn't changed a bit. There was a lovely warm welcome from the staff, who were very attentive, and service was swift. We were on the first sitting but didn't feel at all rushed and our courses came out at a good pace. The quality of the food was excellent and I chose my dishes from the set menu which, at £27 for three courses, was great value. We would recommend anyone to eat here. What a lovely place to eat!

Having seen Rick's TV tour of Spain we wanted to stay in Padstow and chose the bistro room/meal deal. Good value for a superbly appointed room in the Attic. Small (as advertised) but beautiful linen, en suite, view and decor. Bistro meal did not disappoint either. Breakfast very generous and variety to suit most. Car space under cover provided adjacent. Reading room and pre-dinner-drinks-lounge well appointed, comfortable. Service and staff friendly. Would definitely stay again.

40 of us booked the whole restaurant for lunch, and the whole event went very well. Drinks service prompt, staff always helpful and very polite, menu was limited to 2 choices because of numbers but we all enjoyed our meal, and the behind the scenes organisation was very good. Thank you!

Having eaten at the bistro many times I can say its consistent on quality of food and service.
The staff are friendly and always appear to be happy.
This is my favourite out of the rick stein restaurants as I love the ambiance and interior of the restaurant.
Overall another enjoyable meal.

I have to admit, I was a little anxious about staying here, mainly as I'm in the industry and it is a little pricey (£200+pn), but as it was our anniversary, so we decided to hell with it and splash out on a little luxury as we were having our anniversary meal at Rick Stein's Seafood rest. Looking back, with 2 days private parking, great breakfasts - it's worth the rate.
We stayed 2 nights over a weekend.A lovely quirky and full of character building.. 30secs walk from the harbour. Anyway, from the moment we walked in until we left, it was heavenly.
Parking is a mare in Padstow, but the hotel has a little lock-up/garage about 30sec away (very safe & secure).
We managed to get St Merryn's room a lovely 4-poster bedroom with a very large bathroom (free standing bath and power shower). Very spacious, very comfy, very clean and light. Lovely Molton & Brown toiletries, each room has it's own private telephone no (that's cool!).Ample storage/wardrobe space. The bed/mattress is very soft as are the pillows, so if you're used to a hard mattress (like us) it's worth asking for another room. However, can't complain as we slept like babies..
The staff were fabulous, very friendly, helpful and full of smiles.
Breakfast i(inc in rate) in the bistro was very tasty and on both mornings, peaceful and delicious. locally sourced ingredients and cooked to perfection.
Really have absolutely nothing to complain about, have tried to think of everything.. WELL DONE AND THANK YOU for a lovely stay....

Room Tip: Worth splashing out for a special occasion, and with parking and breakfast included, works out prett...

This is the second time we have stayed here in the last two years. We where here with our daughter and family and it was fantastic. The staff are ALL so nice and attentive and I have never seem such consistency of service by all the staff.

We stayed in the attic room which although small is really special with views across the estuary.

The food is exceptional I had steak both nights as it was so good. If you own a hotel visit st St Petrocs to see how it's done.
