We found this beach by accident last summer. It is a small turning off the main road near Polzeath which gets very narrow towards the end. This narrow lane leads you to the car park .There is a shop/cafe and toilets here.It is a 30 second walk down a slight gradient to Daymer bay beach. This beach has also the added bonus(for us)that well behaved dogs are allowed on here.We all paddled in the crystal clear water and played ball with our dog who seemed to love it too.The views across the estuary especially from the cliffs are amazing.Although my favourite Cornish beach is Porthcurno, this is a mighty close second.A true hidden gem and a beautiful part of Cornwall.

I am local to the area and I love to visit this beach walking from ether rock beach to here or other way round. I also like to walk the cliff path to Polzeath ( go right along the cliffs from car park) where you can go down to grenaway beach on the way to Polzeath. Love this beach

Daymer Bay is a must with locals all year round with its really long sandy beach and the short cliff walk along to Polzeath. The car park is of a reasonable size and the shall shop and toilet facilities are sufficient without ruining the scenery. The view across the estuary is great and the gentle shelf of the beach into the water makes it very safe. In summer it catches the sun well but can be windy at times when a windbreak is with taking. The sand is always very clean and dogs are restricted in the summer. Well worth a visit, particularly if you want to escape the more commercialized beaches around Newquay without driving too far. For a winter's walk with the dog, it is a really nice location and well worth the visit. The only downside is the lane to get to it from the main road, about a mile with limited passing spaces, and a nightmare to reverse in - the car parking fee is reasonable and for the elderly and disabled not alternative to the fairly steep steps down from the car park.

We wandered down the lane that leads to Daymer Bay. This is such a joy during the winter months. During summer one is forever dodging cars. There are many traditional properties, but sadly these are falling into the hands of developers and the character of the lane seems to be changing. Daymer beach itself is completely uncommercialised, with just a beach cafe at the end of the car park. The views across to Stepper Point are stunning and the sweep of Bray Hill with St Ennodoc church beyond delightful.

The beach overlooks the Camel Estuary, so if you're looking for waves go round the corner to Polzeath, but if you're looking for an idyllic beach, that's perfect for families then look no further. White sand that stretches for miles (certainly when the tide is out!), provides great sand castle building and cricket opportunities. There's a small stream, that also provides dam building fun (for all ages!) and also rock pools. If you want a destination walk, go along the coastal path, or beach, from Daymer to Rock (good idea for a lunch as there are several good restaurants in Rock). There is a v big private car park for Daymer and at the entrance a big shop that also sells ice creams/teas/coffees/some hot food as well as public toilets. Everything you need! Note for those with pushchairs: the steps down from the car park to the beach are steep, so make sure you have help at hand.
