“Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location”

This was the second time we have stayed in Penweir cottage and it is still as lovely as we remembered it. This year we stayed with friends and used the Barn annex for the smaller family and it worked perfectly. Both the cottage and barn annex were lovely and clean with fresh linen and towels.

Penweir cottage is in a great location in St Maybn within a short distance to Padstow, Newquay and Bodmin.

We will be booking to stay again next summer.

“Lovely cottage in a great location with easy access to both sides of the camel estuary”
Reviewed May 31, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Well equipped and comfortable character cottage in an ideal location. This was our second trip and hopefully not our last. The lovely, fully enclosed garden makes it great for dogs, as do all the beautiful dog-friendly beaches. This is one of our favourite places when the sun is shining!

“Lovely cottage in the heart of a beautiful village”
Reviewed February 28, 2016 for a stay in November 2015

We enjoyed a lovely three week stay at Penweir in November. The cottage is full of character and feels completely private and quiet despite being in the centre of the village and seconds from the shop and pub both of which were very handy! The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

“Beautiful cottage in a lovely location”
Reviewed August 16, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed in Penweir cottage and barn annex for one week at the beginning of August. The cottage is beautiful, a real gem and the barn annex was perfect for our older children.

The cottage has everything you could possibly need for your stay. It is well maintained and very clean.

It is in agreat location within short driving distance to Padstow, Tintagal, Boscastle and St Kew.

We absolutely loved the place and will be booking again for next year.

“Fantastic place to stay”
Reviewed July 11, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We spent two weeks in June in Penweir Cottage. The cottage was great and the facilities were all there for your every need. Lovely secluded garden to keep the dog and young child safe. Extra bonus was a lovely kept park for children right on the doorstep, shop at the end of the garden and a very homely pub with great food just round the corner. All within easy reach of towns and beaches. We enjoyed staying at Penweir cottage so much that I have already booked to stay there again next year. Thank you Naomi for a brilliant stay

“Everything I dreamed of for my Cornish holiday!”
Reviewed July 9, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Travelled as a group of 6 ( 3 couples) and a dog. We had a fabulous week in sleepy St Mabyn at Penweir cottage, Situated in a quiet location and extremely comfortable beds make it very easy for the perfect night sleep. The cottage is very well equipped and decorated to a very high standard, we had everything we needed and also enjoyed a great game of Cornish monopoly! Convenient location for visiting the surrounding area such as, Padstow, Rock, Wadebridge, St Austall brewery, Bodmin railway, Newquay and a few more! St Mabyn inn is 2 minute walk up the road , very friendly owners and great food with huge portions, steak night on a tue is an awesome deal. Cardinham woods was highly recommended by the owner of the cottage and is a fantastic Walk for the dog and the best cream tea around! We also had the luxurious barn during our stay which is an excellent addition to the cottage and indeed very homely and practical with its own bathroom and kitchen/living area! From booking the cottage to departure the owner was extremely friendly and helpful with her great knowledge of the local area! An awesome holiday, thank you , we will be back !!!

“Relaxed and homely cottage”
Reviewed April 16, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Lovely little cottage, so glad we got to take our Yorker poo, Ollie too. We have been so lucky with hot sunny days to fully enjoy the whole of Cornwall. And the cottage is so central to main roads yet being tucked away in the quiet, friendly, pretty village of St Mabyn. The local pubs are fabulous not a bad one yet! The beds are so comfy it really does take effort to get out, in the morning! The first couple of nights were a bit chilly as issues with the heating but soon sorted out and we could have set the log burner going. Just misses the mark to award it 5 out of 5 as little things such as not having all towels and bed linens, the sofas are just awful and totally worn out, the main bathroom drains smell and any more than one car is rather difficult for parking, just as well we didn't make use of the additional barn for parents in law! However the renervation is brilliant and is a super addition to the property. The kitchen is well stocked with cleaning bits and items and for those little bits you need the post office shop is next door and has everything you could need! The decor is beautiful and totally suitable and comfy. We have had a wonderful stay and would recommend to all. Was a privilege to be able to stay here as is a really lovely place to rest up and enjoy. Have loved every second.

Management Response
May 2, 2015
Thanks for your review and I am glad you had a lovely stay. I am sorry there were some areas of concern for you. I thought we had rectified the one missing hand towel situation and was unaware of any other towel or bed linen missing. It is very important to me that all our guests are comfortable and have the best stay possible and I wish that you had let me know that you couldn't figure out the heating and that there was a drain smell. I will certainly investigate this and would have preferred to do this before we had next guests but can't if I don't know about it. Thankfully the next guests have not identified an issue and it is free this week for me to investigate.
