This was mine and hubbys, first camel trail trek [wont be the last] ,we hired bikes at wadebridge as we wanted to park on site -thanks "camel trail cycle hire" easy to find in wadebridge and very well organised, we set out to do end -end ,so went from wadebridge through Bodmin on to wenford bridge -detoured off to take a look at Blisland ,very pretty quaint town ,but a challanging ride uphill for 2 miles, worth it if youre a good cyclist, should say the bike hire gives you a map if you ask ,so easy to follow, this part of the trail we truly believe is the prettiest as you cycle through and past 3 different woods ,following the river all on the flat [apart from Blisland]
we then set back again past wadebridge and on to Padstow [totaly different -bikes ,people ,dogs MANIC] and not that pretty ,we were glad to cycle back to wadebridge again -after another refreshment stop, if you do this route it is nearly 40miles with the Blisland detoure, fab day ,was exhausted at the end ,should say plenty of places to stop for refreshments etc on route,i would def recommend wadebridge -wenford side through shaded woods etc ,not so busy if you have children with you.

Holidaying in Cornwall with my family, we were suggested to go out for the day on the camel trail in Wadebridge. We booked with camel trail cycle hire in Wadebridge and cycled into padstow. The service at camel trail cycle hire was fantastic. They were very short on bikes but the member of staff I was speaking to, went out of his way to help us and get us on our way. Their polite and efficient service really got our day off to a great start. The trail is beautiful and padstow it self is a lovely town with plenty of pasty shops and I've cream parlours for your kids to spend your money! Over all great day and well worth it if you get the chance.

we heard about the camel trail from the hotel where we were staying,They even rang and booked the bikes for us at reception. We hired in wadebridge and cycled to padstow, they had booked us with camel trail cycle hire. The service was brilliant and they even saved a parking space for us with the boss moving his car so we could fit in, bikes where put to one side and a member of staff sorted us out and gave us great advice as to where to go, and even suggested nice resturants in padstow for us to eat in , he even knew tide times and the best place to take my kids crabbing, bikes worked fine we arrived back late but the guy who stayed on was still smiling and intrested in our day . I would reccomend a day on the camel trail to anyone on holiday in that area a great day out with some of the best views in cornwall.

We are a family who live local to the camel trail. The trail is stunning and well worth a day out - a fantastic way to see the Camel Estuary. We often hire bikes and usually use Bridge Bike Hire in Wadebridge where the service is faultless. The trail was busy today and even though we were booking ahead they were sold out. We went for the next nearest who are Camel Trail Cycle Hire. I won't ever use them again as one member of staff (the boss?) was particularly rude and unhelpful, the bikes were mediocre and they had got our order wrong. There are plenty of other cycle hire places and I would strongly recommend using one of them.

We hired our bikes from the Camel Trail Cycle Hire (www.cameltrailcyclehire.co.uk) who were very friendly. We also left our car there so it was very handy. We hired one (female) cruiser style bike 12 GBP and one Bike and tagalong 18 GBP (for husband and daughter). Locks, chains, helmets and panniers were free of charge.

Some people we passed had hired buggies for their dogs! Be aware that it is NOT a short ride so unless your smaller children are VERY fit, I would suggest either the tagalong or a buggy.

The track is very pretty (apparently a disused converted rail line). It runs along the side of the river Camel. There is a half way point refreshment station (which we stopped at but didn't have occasion to buy anything - but it looked to be reasonably priced drinks and snacks).

The ride from Wadebridge took about 40 minutes (about 5 1/2 miles) to Padstow.

Once in Padstow, we locked our bikes to the railing and walked into town (which was VERY busy - why do they have rubbish collections in the middle of the day in school holidays!).

At the Padstow end of the trail is the Rick Stein Fish shop and other items. We went through the shops - it all looked very nice if a little pricey - but well presented and I am sure would be excellent quality.

After lunch we cycled back to Wadebridge.

It felt good at the end of the day to have visited a place and exercised too!
