“wow what a setting!”

If you like the sea this lovely hotel will delight as you can't get much closer. I lay in bed with a glass of wine and watched the sun setting over the sea through my open patio doors.
A great friendly little hotel. We sat in the garden and had bar meals which were really tasty. Especially the fish. If you're after real quiet though its worth noting that the pub quiz was a bit noisy on Wednesday night and that doors start banging about 7 in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front with the balcony.

It is a fantastic setting isn't it! We are so glad you enjoyed yourself and had good weather. Apologies for the noise on Wednesday, did you join in with the quiz?
Do come back and stay with us again.

Lovely inn, quiet Cornish fishing cove - just around the corner from beautiful Port Isaac, this fantastic coastal pub is also an excellent place to stay. Friendly service, good Cornish ales on tap and nice food. Breakfast is good, too. But the best thing is the location... one of very few buildings in a lovely, peaceful fishing cove... the wonderful old black-and-white pictures hung around the hotel are testament to how little this place has changed over the years.

Any niggles are small ones, but one id worth mentioning when you're paying £120 a night: I cannot understand why this hotel - like some others - provide a shower in the bathroom, but with no shower-holder on the wall above the bath and no shower curtain either - it makes for an unnecessarily awkward and messy experience!

Lovely overall, though. I first came a few years ago, enjoyed it again this time, and no doubt will be back again in the future

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the harbour (side view because of the hotel's orientation) & access to the...

The Hotel is attached to the local hostelry. Staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble Qirky, narrow staircase up to the bedrooms , not to be recommended for those with significant mobility problems. Bedroom was large , opening out onto a roof terrace.
The food was second to none. Must have put a sone on during the week!

I sayed here during a solo walk of the coast path and can only say how clean and friendly the hotel was. The rooms were large and the hotel was not noisy. I would recommend this to anyone.

Thank you for your lovely review. Having just spent a week climbing and walking in the alps I know that just a clean room and welcome reception can make all the difference to your day! We are really happy that you have given us a good review and hope the rest of your walk goes well.
Do let us know how you get on and perhaps a few updates would be good.

We first visited the Port Gaverne Hotel many years ago, arriving late at night without a reservation and having to each take a single room (so small that 2 people could not even fit!). Notwithstanding this we have fond memories and decided to return. This time we had a much larger room with a king size bed and good size en suite. I tend to agree the hotel may be best described as a pub with rooms but it is a very nice pub and the rooms are equally good. The location is lovely, just down the hill from Port Isaac. The bar seems to be filled with locals and their dogs however it was not at all uncomfortable for people like us just passing through. Front desk staff were very responsive when I explained my allergy to down pillows and breakfast was very good. The hotel is comfortable and unpretentious; it was full when we were there and is a great place for a few nights on the north Cornwall coast.

Room Tip: room 14 is over the front entrance and was very quiet

Stayed one night on 29th June as visiting friends. It is a pub with rooms above it is a decent place to stay and the rooms are comfortable and breakfast is great. Beds and room spotless so no complaints at all.Only down side is the shower was not working and had to take a bath in the morning instead as did other residents but this aside a good place to stay if you are in the Port Gaverne /Port Isaac area.
