Just back from a great two-week holiday at The Old Workshop.
It's in a properly rural location -- quiet and peaceful, with a lovely view across the East Sussex Weald. But it's within reach of many places worth visiting, including several National Trust properties.
The accommodation is excellent. It's modern, spacious, finished to a high standard, and very comfortable.
Equally important (to me at least), the owners treat you like adults. They just hand you the keys and leave you to get on with it.
The Old Workshop is everything as advertised. It's a lovely accommodation with a nice view from the terrace. There's a lot to see and visit nearby, for example Hastings, Battle, Bodiam Castle, Hever Castle and for the kids Knockhedge Adventure Park, as well as the wonderfull countryside.
The Old Workshop itself is a well-equipped, clean, comfortable and roomy accommodation.
We have enjoyed our stay and our two boys especially enjoyed the squirrels in the trees in the afternoon while sitting on the terrace.

The Old Workshop was perfect for us. Good spaces internally, well thought out and very clean. Rural setting in glorious countryside. We enjoyed walking in the classic lanes.
We are a family of four adults who got together for a wedding. Easy communications with railway stations and the motorways.
Look forward to staying again.
We have just spent 3 nights at the old workshop. It is located in a most idyllic country setting. A far cry from the open plains of Australia. Without a doubt everything was perfect, right from the prompt and hassle free communication with Jenny to the friendly welcome from Peter. The view from the balcony is spectacular. The workshop is well equipped with everything need for an extended stay. Beds are so comfy, fantastic to have the extra bathroom and the decor is very homely. My daughter and I went on a couple of the nearby walks which are not clearly identified but pleasant. The nearby village of Mayfield is a must for a visit, it's absolutely beautiful. My husband got used to the narrow windy roads just as it was time to leave. Thanks again Jenny. We will definitely stay again if we ever return to the area.
Everything at the Old Workshop was exactly as we expected. The house was wonderful and excellently equipes. Our host was very friendly and welcomed us with a complimenteus bottleneck of local wine. Thee are lots of interesting things to do in the neighbourhood. In the early mornings we were welcomed by a number of pheasants in the field across from the balcony. We will be back.
We spent a week at the old workshop and with the modern furnishings and well appointed kitchen made our stay a fantastic week
We basically travel a lot and when in the UK we rent in various parts of Sussex and Kent. The Old Workshop, Broad Oak is our favourite by a long way. The perfect accommodation, in a lovely quiet area - it's stunning even in the Winter. If you book this - you will not be disappointed. Personally I would live there all the time if I could.
Thank you again Jenny and Peter.
