I visited the Scottish Seabird Centre with my wife and two children (aged 3 and 7) today, and we had a great time. Loads of interactive things to explore at our leisure - having the opportunity to control one of many cameras on the islands is a brilliant idea, and the video images are projected onto large screens in front of the control sticks. Seeing the different bird colonies up close without disturbing them is a great idea, and staff are always on hand to explain things or point useful things out.
The kids soft play area was enjoyed by our 3 year old, but the height restriction doesn't allow children much taller than a 3 year old to go in, so be prepared for tantrums from taller children who aren't allowed in (well... not officially anyway!)
There are short 5-10 minute films running continuously throughout the day in the mini-theatre, although a school group came in mid-way through our visit, so we unfortunately had to miss the film about seals, which we really wanted to see.
The staff were all excellent, especially Linda, who was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic - so full credit to her for helping make our visit so enjoyable.
We didn't visit the cafe, but it seemed really popular, and there is an outside area for those sunny days, too.
Brilliant way to spend a couple of hours, particularly as we could use our Tesco Clubcard 'Days Out' Rewards vouchers for admission, too :-)
