“A Golfers Dream”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

Eight of us stayed at the North Berwick Golf Lodge B&B for four nights from the 20th May.
This is our 21st golf tour and without a doubt our best accommodation yet.
Tom and Emma are great hosts and will organise golf, food and transport if needed.
Tom cooked an excellent meal for us twice and was also excellent company adding to the fun.
The Lodge is situated in a very nice part of town with only a 10 min walk to the centre.
Can't fault anything so we will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: The double rooms are very large

Stayed around November. Was a nice bed and breakfast. Nice touches with the biscuits in room tray .
Lovely clean room , but found the bed a bit soft . Owners very friendly .
But I did not feel it was very homely , felt like I was intruder in someone's house as the family lived on top floor.
Maybe it's more geared to Golfers as name suggests. Is in a great location just outside town centre.

This review is not relevant to North Berwick Golf Lodge. We as owners do not live in this property as indicated by the reviewer, hence this review is for a Bed & Breakfast property. The Lodge is an " Exclusive Use Property " for groups, where guests enjoy the privacy and comfort of the whole house on their own which extends to 6 guest bedrooms as displayed on the map / image gallery on our Website. There is clearly no additional accommodation "upstairs for owners". We are currently in negotiations with Tripadvisor to have this incorrect posting removed.

We stayed at the North Berwick lodge from Oct. 9 to Oct. 12, 2012. The owners, Tom and Emma Hill, are the most wonderful and accommodating hosts. Two members of our group were met by Tom at the airport and then so kindly gave them time to discover the town and do some sightseeing with his suggestion that he would meet them after a couple of hours so that he can drive them to the lodge. That was a totally unexpected and wonderful gesture. Emma made sure that we had what we needed at the lodge, appointed us wonderful rooms and made us breakfast before we headed for our golf trips. Tom, of course, drove us to all the locations and then back to the lodge. Let's just say that there was not one thing that they could not help us with whether it be tee times, restaurant reservations, or hotel suggestions around the country. Tom and Emma both truly know the definition of customer service, excellent accommodations, and how everyone can have a perfect time.

We stayed at the North Berwick Golf Lodge the first week of October. Tom Hill picked us up at the Edinburgh airport and gave us a tour of the town. He then dropped us off at the castle and we arranged a meeting spot 2.5 hours later. He went way beyond what would have been expected. While staying at the Lodge, Tom's wife Emma made us breakfast every day before we headed out to the golf course. These two truly understand the phrase "customer Service". They are the nicest people and couldn't have been more accommodating. Plus they have a membership at the Marine Hotel Spa, which after a couple of 36 hole days is a necessity. The NB Golf Lodge is a definite 'must stay'.

We stayed at the North Berwick Golf Lodge last week. There were 8 golfers in our group. The accommodations could not have worked out better. There are 6 bedroom, two of which are huge. The Kitchen is large and stocked with everything you need. Tom and Emma take great care of you during your stay whether they are bringing in breakfast or driving you to the golf course. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when I am East Lothian.

I go to North Berwick, Scotland every year and wanted to bring 4 couples I know to join me so I arranged a golf trip for them at the North Berwick Golf Lodge. Tom & Emma Hill treated them like kings for a full week. They are fabulous hosts. Tom is a golfer and knows the golf courses in the area and had great suggestions as to where to play, Emma booked all of their tee times and arranged caddies when they wanted them. Not only did Tom pick them up at the airport, he took them to their scheduled golf course every day and picked them up when they were done. He also took them on a whisky and castle tours. Some of them wanted to stay at the lodge and sleep but that was okay. Tom is a gourmet chef and former owner of a highly-rated restaurant. Not only did he conjure up fabulous breakfasts, on two nights he cooked them a fabulous gourmet meal that were included in their price (which was less than half the price of every golf tour operator I contacted). Let me put this way: The lodge itself is all you could ever ask for in the way of clenliness and comfort and the Hills are the most gracious hosts you could imagine. And, by the way, the golf courses in the area are among the finest links courses in the world. All in all, you can't go wrong putting yourself in the hands of Tom and Emma Hill and their wonderful North Berwick Golf Lodge.

6 of us recently visited Scotland from April 1 - 10, 2011. This was a guy’s only golf trip. We did not use a golf tour provider nor did we purchase a golf package. We planned everything on our own (as recommended in the book ‘Golf in Scotland’ by Allan McAllister Ferguson – which I highly recommend as well).

First, everything on our trip was perfect, and I would do everything exactly the same if I had to do it again. We started off in North Berwick for 4 days, and then finished the remaining 5 days in St. Andrews.

The town of North Berwick is absolutely charming and has one of the best golf courses I have ever played! When you go to North Berwick, you absolutely must stay at the North Berwick Golf Lodge! The Lodge is much bigger than it looks in the pictures and is beautiful. VERY spacious and very up to date. The rooms are very big, the bathrooms are new and clean, and the Jacuzzi is perfect after a day on the links!!!

But the best part of the Golf Lodge are the owners and hosts of the North Berwick Golf Lodge, Tom and Emma. They are incredibly friendly and are amazing hosts! Tom is not only the owner of the Lodge, but also was our shuttle driver while in North Berwick and our chef at night. The food was amazing!! We went with the Scottish Ribeye and started with the haggis fritters, don’t be afraid!!!

Emma brought us breakfast each morning, and also went to the grocery store for us. She loaded us up with water, beer, fruit, and all the other requests we had! Also, they are members at a local private Country Club, and invited us as guests to play their course for a day. It was awesome, ask them about this! Emma even put us in the St Andrews daily lottery and we all got tee times!!!!

The course you must play, which is about a 2 minute drive from the Golf Lodge, is the North Berwick Golf Club (also known as The West Links). This is one of the best courses I have ever played in my life, and is an absolute must play while in Scotland. This ranks up there with Muirfield and Carnoustie.

I will be back to North Berwick, and no doubt, this will be the only place I ever stay. Thanks Tom and Emma!!!!
