Lovely grounds
More deer than we could count
Opulent
Nice extra of short talk on Michelangelo
There is a hidden part of the café which is more like a hotel lounge than a café

A fun half day visit from a critical thinking perspective. Point 1. I think the Statue Gallery is full of fakes. Why? For the same reason as the Getty Kouros. They are just 'too pristine' to be ancient. Every other similar gallery I've seen features similar objects that are much more weathered / beaten up and noticeably more dick less. Will make an interesting insurance claim if the family are ever short of a few bob. Point 2. The Walled Garden is dilapidated. Point 3. I'm really impressed, the family business is a remarkable endeavour in the art of attracting government grants and avoiding Inheritance Tax. Point 4. Despite my above comments the staff were remarkably kind, well informed and helpful. Enjoy!

We arrived at Holkham Hall at the back entrance and followed a car through the coded gate on our bikes. This was a magnificent way to begin our visit, the drive ahead of you well over a mile long. The visitor centre is well laid out and walking / cycling the grounds and lake areas proved lovely. We visited the immense walled gardens (only £3) and these are well worth a visit. The acreage of fruit, vegetables and flowers that are still maintained (it was, during the war years, much more densely planted) is hugely impressive. We left via the west gate back to Burnham Overy and felt we had enjoyable he’d a fun day out.

The south entrance is magnificent, and is a wonderful advantage for our visitors arriving by bike. We're glad you had a fun day with us, and thank you for leaving a review.

Amazing hall and gardens, huge area to explore. Sadly the hall wasn’t open on the day of our visit. But we spent a lot of time walking around the park area, lots of deer running and grazing, it was just lovely. There is a little cart that will drive you to the walled garden, which is quite a way, but worth seeing. There is also a splendid little gift shop and a really good cafe area.
