I stayed here with my boyfriend earlier this year and we had a great stay. We had a room on the top floor with two large windows in the bedroom and a huge bathroom. The room was well decorated with nice blinds, a huge bed and a lovely bathroom with a good shower over the bath. We had a small sitting area with a chaise sofa and a fab flat screen tv. There was a wardrobe in the room and the bed was really comfy with good white linen and nice finishing touches of fluffy cushions. Wells is not the most exciting place in the country but it is great for a bit of RnR andwe had a wander round and found a nice deli style shop that did great lunch and the fish and chip shop smelt
really good! There are a few places to eat but we chose to eat in the
restaurant in the Crown and we were so pleased we did. The food was excellent and although it was really really busy we were seated almost immediately as we were guests and had booked a table. The service of the management was excellent and the staff were attentive throughout. The food was fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced. There was an excellent atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We had truffles and champagne in our room and they were also
lovely - handmade and pre-ordered for the stay - and slept very well after all the food and drink! Breakfast was good, portion not huge - good for me, the man could have done with another sausage i am told! - but tasted fresh and not greasy. All in all a good stay and if we are in that neck of the woods again we would not hesitate to re
book.

We recently stayed at the Crown Hotel for a one night stay. We loved the mixture of the old (the hotel dates back to the 17c and is quite higgledy piggledy in structure) and the new (stylish decoration in the bedrooms). All the staff were very friendly - particularly the owner. We were on a dinner/bed and breakfast deal but there was no limit to how much we could eat off the dinner menus. The food was delicious and the choices at breakfast particularly good. We loved the fresh orange juice and nice touches such as a cafatiere and fresh coffee provided in the bedrooms. We wished we could have stayed longer!

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Norfolk - plenty of things to see and do plus of course the fantastic coast. The Crown Hotel was a very welcoming place to come back to after a long and windy walk. Especially during the weekend, the bar is heaving with locals, tourists and cheerful children. The food in the bar is good value - in the restaurant less so - but the food is nevertheless of high quality.
Don't expect polished luxury in the rooms - the (premium) room we stayed in was small and without all the modern features usually associated with a price level of £ 140 per room.
So this is a stylish and charming option in a beautiful part of England - the only downside is that it is rather expensive.

My wife, baby an I had a fantastic nights stay midweek. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We checked in slightly earlier than expected too. The food (both evening and breakfast) was delicious and pretty good value. Hotel baby listening service was great too.

All in all a great first ever stay away with our new baby!

We were disappointed with this hotel and didn't consider it value for money. We were in the area for a wedding but instead of being thoroughly spoilt we found the service very hit and miss. We were paying £150 per night b&b so thought we were getting something special. The breakfast wasn't very special and we found that the staff served the people that came in later before us, another couple had the same comment. We asked Before the Sunday morning if we could pre-order our breakfast as we wanted to get away quickly and the receptionist told us we could order an earlier time which we did. So we went down at 8am and no-one knew we were coming even though we saw the girl write it down. Reluctantly a young lad served us mumbling that the kitchen wasn't open. When he brought our main breakfast through we asked if we could have our toast. It never arrived even after him being asked three times so we got up and left without it as we has already been there 40minutes and wanted to get away. The food didn't taste very appetising I think because the whole place stunk of bleach which they were washing the floors with.
One chap helped us to carry our luggage up when we arrived but that was the only help we received. Unfortunately we left before thanking him properly because by this time we were upset.
Prices were very high £5.50 for a one round cheese sandwich! Long live M&S!
The whole visit was doubly irritating because lots of our friends were in the area getting really good deals and no-one was paying anywhere near what we were. They thought we were mad.
