Came here on our second evening of a weekend break. Much cheaper than the two pub/hotel restaurants in town. Was amazed at how good the food was. Expected pretty bog standard pub grub but got an excellent meal that I couldn't fault. Not a swanky as in town, but the food really was excellent.

A warm welcome awaits you along with a lovely log fire.
The menu is not huge but you will not be disappointed with your meal.
We enjoyed the fish& chips my husband declaring that it was 'the best batter' he had ever had! While I had the steak & ale cobbler with melt in the mouth steak & a lovely rich gravy.
A hearty home cooked meal that was very good value & an ample portion, so much so that we had no room for pudding!

Thank Jenny P

We had an evening meal here on our first night in Wells. Nice log fire and good choice of dishes. we only had a starter and sweet as we'd eaten out earlier, but the dishes were very large. Reasonably priced and definitely worth a look if staying in Wells

Lovely blazing wood-burner greeted us on a blustery cold night and a marvellous pint of Wherry and glass of Sauvignon Blanc set up a good, hearty homemade meal. Very much a local pub all the food was on 1 large blackboard and the range of 5 starters and 7 mains was great. We opted to share a very good homemade mackerel pate followed by mushroom stroganoff with wild rice and a steak and ale cobbler; the wild rice was beefed up with white rice which was a bit cheeky but all the food was tasty and portions were exactly right. Dessert for us was another round of drinks but the dessert menu was very well received by other diners. This is a good find indeed. Definitely one to try as it is a little further from the quay so not as busy as other pubs in Wells. Enjoy!
