Lovely, old historical house situated right on the East Quay. Quiet location yet within easy reach of all the amenities of Wells-next-the-Sea. Breakfast was superb! Tasty, thick smoked bacon, fresh new laid eggs (the hens belong to the owner), excellent locally sourced sausage and the best fried bread. This was preceded by fresh fruit salad and thick greek yogurt. We enjoyed the shared table but could see that some guests may be irritated by "morning chatter". If you are not a morning person, don't expect to be able to sit on your own at breakfast!
The 4 poster bed room is the best room, with great views over the creek although I found the mattress a bit soft for my liking (I am fussy and used to a high quality pocket spring mattress at home). The house is also very warm and cosy - we stayed during one of the coldest days of the year and it was lovely and warm. I would stay again and would recommend this B&B. The North Norflok coast is well worth a visit.

Great location right on the quayside but at the quiet end of town. Lovely breakfasts with other guests and Peter on hand, full of local knowledge and ideas for the day. Stayed in the twin room with its own door, very handy for early morning walk by the creek to look at curlews, godwits, lapwings, oyster catchers, brent geese etc. Free wi-fi for those desparate to keep in touch. Warm bedroom, with tv, large shower room, kitchen with fridge, sink, microwave, chairs & table. Nice touch with the pillows 3 per bed so you can pick the right type for you. And if you are not an early morning walker, try an afternoon one to Wells lifeboathouse and look left into the field before the trees about half way along, a barn owl was hunting there last weekend.

Room Tip: Book early - there aren't many rooms! And I clicked excellent on the fitness centre in my revie...

We have just returned from a glorious weekend break at Old Custom House . The whole experience was great from start to finish . The view from the bedroom with four poster ( very comfy ) was breathtaking , breakfast ( delicious ) shared around the table with other guests was always interesting and friendly and the hospitality was first class . We have just reserved the room again for an October get away.

What a wonderful long weekend we had at The Old Custom House. Our bedroom overlooked the creeks so the view was always changing. The welcome was wonderful as was the home cooked breakfast all to order with tea on tap. The beds were comfortable and the situation was quiet although only a short walk to the centre of town. The walks around the area are well worth taking and Peter is the person to ask about all things Wells/Norfolk. Very highly recommended.

Everything about the stay was delicious. Peter and his wife both welcoming, full of Wells ways. The rooms excellent, perfect for the dog too. Breakfast included Angel Hair jam. Only 3 rooms, and we all sat together at one table, often including Peter.
