“Just dont miss playing here - it really is that good”

Royal West Norfolk Golf Club

Awesome golf course and don't be put off by having to play foursomes - we still had a great day and you can get round (weather permitting) in well under four hours.
Everyone friendly especially the pro.

Would have rated this as excellent BUT we all agreed that whilst we are relatively fit the first tee is reached via deep sand and it takes considerable effort to push a trolley through it. A few railway sleepers (?) would help the more elderly/infirm visitors.

I play in a match every year against the club and along with Hunstanton and Rye is one of the matches I don't want to miss! The club is old fashioned and a little quirky and the course is out and back along the side of the dunes. There are a number of short holes Par 3s & Par 4s that still show you don't have to be long to be a good test. I would love to play it when the tide is in but have never been able to manage it :o( Sad for the guy who was disappointed but there's no accounting for taste! I for one am always pleased when its June again and I am out on the traditional links on Brancaster.

What a wonderful place, some might say old fashioned but all the better for it. Fabulous traditional links where all your clubs and plenty of imagination is required. Have had the pleasure of playing during a high tide and the 3rd.6th, 8th and 9th. become monster holes, a rare treat if you can fit it in. Staff all very friendly, cant wait to go back.

I’ve wanted to play Royal West Norfolk for nearly thirty years, but always ended up at Hunstanton, (which has been a favourite of mine for ever) until last week when two of us finally took the plunge and booked a green fee at £85.00 each. I know - expensive for those that live, work and play in the Norfolk / Suffolk area, but worth every penny. A true links experience from a club justifiably ranked at 33 in the top 100 UK courses. The clubhouse was perched almost on the beach and we felt as though we had been transported back 100 years into a haven that with the passing of time has sadly been lost. We were warmly greeted on arrival by the Club Professional and directed into the club lounge to enjoy a complementary coffee and bacon roll before our 10.45 tee time. Two balls only here and that is also refreshing as golf can be played at a sensible pace. RWN don’t allow too many visitors per day which prevents their lovely course from becoming overcrowded and overall, added to the experience. We picked a day when the North Norfolk wind threw everything at us and while the front nine played relatively easy, the two members in front of us on the 10th tee remarked in a cheery, but slightly sinister fashion “it gets a bit harder from here lads!” They were right and the 40-50 mph wind nearly finished us off, but for a true links experience (and I’ve played several) it doesn’t get better than Royal West Norfolk and I definitely will not be waiting another thirty years before returning. Thank you RWN for a great day.

Fantastic traditional links golf. Wind, rain, get around pretty quickly and not easy. Great old fashioned clubhouse and steward. Delightful
