Description: A fully licensed place to meet, eat and drink, Merchants is one of Kings Lynn's best kept secrets! Situated in the Undercroft of Hanse House, the medieval warehouse overlooking the tidal estuary in the ancient Hanseatic quarter of Kings Lynn, Merchants provides a unique environment for informal dining and socialising. The food is cooked fresh by our Chef using our own bread and locally sourced ingredients and features Tapas style snacks and sharing platters as well as more conventional meals. With a range of ales, beers, ciders and wines and a growing musical following Merchants is both family and dog friendly!

Being a vegetarian its always hard to find places that serve good quality food with more than one option for vegetarians. Merchants bar offers a great menu for both vegetarians and meat eaters and the food is delicious. Its worth a visit! Lovely position on the South Quay in Kings Lynn and they also serve my favourite beer, Bitberger. Will visit again!

We ended up here having missed lunchtime opening hours of many other places nearby. We were so impressed! It's early days by the sound of things but the owners have lots of plans and are committed to serving food of excellent quality. Our pork belly and homemade burger were superb and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and thoughtful (they brought toys for my daughter). Highly recommended.

Went for my birthday with folks & hubby. Mother is a veggie, dad is a wee bit of a snob, I can be a little fussy/awkward at times & dobby eats most things ... just not nuts. A lot of places can find it a bit of a challenge to satisfy all of our preferences on the one night, together, but Merchants did it quite well :)

We started off with a small plate each - the haggis & veggie tart were my fav, tho I couldn't comment on the pork terrine as I don't eat pork ;) Dad & dobby said it was very nice (even tho dobby did pick out the nuts).

Then on to main course. Dobby & I both had the Sea Bream - lovely & light, beautiful flavour. The asparagus with it was perfect. Dad had the slow cooked pork with mash. Again he said it was good. Mum had a MASSIVE portion of cheesy, chilli pasta that she said was lovely, rich and VERY filling.

The bread that came with the food, particularly the starters/small plates was lovely.

We didn't have pudding - tho we did see another diner having a HUGE lump of gorgeous looking cake :)

The prices are reasonable and portions a decent size, tho dobby & I said we could have done with a few new pots with our fish.

The host is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

All in all a VERY enjoyable meal & we look forward to our next visit :)
