This place has a "wow!" factor about it, with its big Tudor style chimneys, moat and Tudor brickwork. It was built by the Bedingfield family in 15-something, and they're still there today in a wing of the house which is owned by the National Trust.

There's a significant amount of repair / refurbishment work going on just now, including replacing pretty much the entire roof after one of the dormer windows in the roof slid none-too-gracefully into the house atrium a few years ago. Investigation revealed that repairs done in Victorian times had been bodged so there's work to sort out walls, too. One of the guides told us that this winter, a cover will be erected over the entire roof to allow work to carry on through the bad weather.

So some Tudor stuff is Victorian........ and inside, many of the paintings and works of art are reproductions as well. Seems the Bedingfields had difficulty keeping their money at times and sold of originals, replacing them with copies. BUT it doesn't detract from the charm and impressiveness of the place.

The gardens are lovely and largely well-maintained, especially the flower garden along the garden wall on your left as you come in through the main entrance. Chapel well worth a visit too.

We love coming here every summer. The gardens are always beautiful and the walks are fun for all ages. The house is well presented and worth walking through several times.

As is usual when one visits a National Trust attraction these days the ticket seller will ask if you are a National Trust member. Should you answer in the negative and decline the offer to join, the sellers demeanour will immediately change from being pleasant and welcoming to a complete misery. Oxborough Hall is no different. As we are now used to this treatment we decided to visit the hall anyway. All other staff members - the cafe staff, room guides and grounds people were extremely polite and helpful. Unfortunately we are limited to one weeks holiday a year and we try to visit one National Trust property during that time.Perhaps the National Trust should make it clear that visitors should have a bottomless bank account.

had a lovely afternoon today at Oxborough Hall today. Looked like it was going to be rainy but the weather was just great. There were some re-enactment people in the grounds today as well as the lovely gardens and a visit to the hall. There was an i-spy type game for the little one to do when we were in the hall, which made it must more interesting for her. And all the staff we met were very friendly.

The hall is impressive from the outside and very interesting inside too. There is also a very good colourful stretch of garden that is thoughtfully laid out. The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times.

I would recommend a stop off at this pretty little place.
