This is a comfortable and very friendly hotel in an excellent location for anyone wanting to spend time in historic King's Lynn. The room was beautifully designed and spotlessly clean with a nice big bathroom and the food and drinks were very good too. I'm surprised that another reviewer has criticised the staff - I thought they were excellent, both friendly and efficient. I definitely hope to stay here again!

Room Tip: They do very reasonable single occupancy rates for their double rooms.

On the river front, near the medieval centre, a short walk. Fine rooms, with all necessary comforts; a range of dining rooms, offering a good dinner and a first class breakfast. Staff friendly; still wondering quite why the Irish edition of Debrett's was there, but then, so many things come by their places by accident or for reasons long lost. An excellent base for exploring north west Norfolk.

I can certainly recommend Kings Lynn and The Bank House Hotel for an enjoyable weekend. However, we were very lucky with the weather and walking around the town in a rainy, windy day may not be for everyone! The High Street is just full of all the usual shops - Monsoon, Marks and Spencer etc but the Medieval House walk is highly recommended to anyone interested in architecture. The ladies in the Custom House Tourist Centre were very helpful with maps and information. The Bank House Hotel is a perfect boutique hotel. We stayed in The Bath House with good views across the River Ouse. Lovely crisp white sheets, fluffy towels and Molton Brown products were an added bonus. Dinner in the main restaurant was perfect and very reasonable when compared to London dining.

Room Tip: A river view is an added bonus.

We stayed on Saturday night (2.11.2013) to celebrate my wife's birthday.
You need to know where to park when you stay as you can only park for 90 mins outside the hotel from 8.00am to 6pm, you are OK after this, but the traffic wardens are really sharp. You can park on the quayside for free but it is difficult to get a slot in the week.
Once parked you can enjoy the hotel which is comfortable. We stayed in Tom's Room, which overlooked the square, which was fine but not as good as having a view over the Ouse. There is a knack to getting the wifi to work, but when you do it's fine. We stayed Saturday night, which was very busy, in excess of 100 covers, amazing for the size of hotel. Staff are friendly and courteous, although service can be a little slow when the staff are very busy. We still had a lovely evening, pleasant night's sleep and tasty breakfast. Would definitely stay again, and would also try the Rose & Crown too.

Room Tip: Tom's Room is comfortable but doesn't face the river, ask for a river view., and book restau...

I have eaten before at the Bank House and been impressed so on that basis I had arranged to stay here whilst travelling for work. The welcome was warm and friendly so I felt valued as a customer. The room was spacious and airy. The bed was very comfortable with good quality linen.

On the downside, there were cobwebs in the en suite and I couldn't connect to wifi (perhaps due to my location in the hotel - overlooking the square, not the river). The food was excellent as ever though the service could be sharpened up (in fairness they were busy).

Overall a good place to stay

Room Tip: Ask for a river overlook.

We were planning a weekend in Norfolk from London and decided to book a hotel in Kings Lynn as it looked like a good location to explore the area. We have heard some less that brilliant reviews about Kings Lynn, but we were really impressed. Beautiful historic old town with the Bank House plonked right in it, and looking out of the lovely River Ouse. This historic hotel was just the right combination of historic and well preserved and modern and comfortable. Dinner on the Friday night was gorgeous. We tried their sister restaurant/hotel the Rose and Crown around 15mins away the next night, and that was even better on the food stakes, and a fantastic pub - though extremely busy so you need to book. Great to have a hotel bar to have those last few nights caps before you finally turn in after a gorgeous day exploring the fantastic Norfolk coast. Way beyond my expectations, and lovely comfy and memorable weekend away.

Room Tip: Book early. We ended up with the last one - the small double - which was still fine.

Charming building, my room overlooked the quay and was nicely furnished - the wonderful bath was great.
The staff were excellent and could not do more to please and the food in the restaurant represented excellent value and nicely presented.
Thank you to the team for making our stay so enjoyable.
