We went for Sunday lunch at the Manor Hotel. The hotel has a feel of faded gentility, however the roast beef was cooked to perfection. Washed down by a pint of Norfolk beer, it hit the spot.

This place needs a HUGE amount of TLC, and some dedicated professional management input. Generally the staff were doing reasonable job, however the addition of a well trained reception team would should be a priority.
Should I have need of accommodation in Norfolk in the future it will not be at this hotel.

The Blakeney Manor doesn't try and be what it is not. It is in a lovely position with nice rooms and tries to impress with it's food.

On the plus side, the food was impressive. Dinner offered a narrow choice but well selected, cooked and presented. Really enjoyable; much better than a huge menu which is bland or microwaved. Breakfast was cooked to order which seems rare now; and again well presented and tasty. The room was nice too; we booked a better grade and the room was large nad nicely decorated.

To offer constructive criticism; they could clean the rooms more diligently and get the staff to cheer up a bit

Room Tip: Worth paying for a better room

On the north Norfolk coast at least this kind of establishment is now very rare. A hotel which believes in the old values of comfort, good food and caring staff.
No affectation here nor the pretentiousness of nearby hostelries who feel they have to pander to the whimsys of London clients. The annual winter springclean keeps the place up to scratch but no khaki or battleship grey paint here. No shabby chic either just good furniture.
The main courses are perfectly cooked and the dish of vegetables ( a little aldente for some ) are always good and seasonable.
The spacious bar and lounges have always been a delightful aspect of The Manor and long may it continue. Also the prices which thankfully are more Nottingham than Notting Hill !
Bob.

I went for a long weekend to Norfolk and this was one of the few that I could get in to as it's a popular area for birdwatching.

So what was it like - bit old fashioned inside but the staff were polite efficient & helpful. The room was all I needed and wasn't flash & modern but perfectly OK (mobile signal was a bit hit and miss round here but thats not their fault)

The food was really good and we only managed a full 3 courses on 1 night ! really well cooked and the beer was good as well.

Unlike most Hotels they didn't limit you to two cups of tea/coffee a day as there was about 10 cartons of milk so you could have a couple of cups when you got in and still have plenty for the morning - I wish other would do this as it only costs pence for gods sake!

Oh dear. Have stayed before at the Blakeney Hotel and the standard of the two hotels could not be more different. We had a room for one night in the original 16th century building so, granted, it's old and quirky. I accept old, what I am unhappy about is unclean bathrooms and cramped bedrooms. Let's just say the weather was nice, we ate out and we spent as little time as necessary in the hotel! The breakfast was most disappointing; not even yoghurt on offer - too contemporary perhaps. Rather than a cooked breakfast I opted for porridge: a grey lump of mass swimming in a bowl of milk was not what I had in mind. For £94 I feel a little ripped off. The other, mainly elderly, guests however seemed to be quite satisfied. The place in general appears very run down and unkempt with peeling paint and dirty windows. Shame really, I imagine it might have one day been a nice place to stay. Never again for me though!

Room Tip: Maybe the garden rooms are better being newer than 16th century.
