Owner description: Daily boat trips to see the seals ( guaranteed )IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE Sadly, but with some degree of relief I have decided to no longer respond to any trip advisor reports from November 2016 onwards. I have always been pleased that Bishops Boats responded appropriately ( I hope ) to every one and thank you all for the generally great reviews, and the feedback from the very few not so great ones. There are also a few very unfair and unjustifiable ones included also. To the few trolls our there, you don't realy win because your comments are transparent and a waste of only your own time, no longer mine. Compliments are easy but complaints ( especially spurious ones ) are incredibly time consuming and while every genuine customer is very important to us it is with 136 reviews( most are good or excellent) to date, over 4 years it is a tiny proportion of our business consuming an inappropriate amount of time. This I believe is because TA is generally a sounding board ( at least originally ) for bad catering and accommodation experiences. It may have grown beyond its own natural capacity as everything it seems can now be rated, but is often only done if things go wrong or someone has has a grudge or a gripe. Please do feel free to comment I am grateful, but please try to be fair and be truthful. I will occasionally now look at reviews and take on board comments.I will not check religiously any longer in case I have inadvertently upset someone, or someone has got something wrong. If things go wrong I will put them right on the day as always where I can, if appropriate comments are made then, not after the event! I will no longer comment on posts whether good, bad, indifferent or fake. If you have a genuine complaint you can tell as many people as you like about it on the internet, but if you really want something done about it please speak to me! Thank you for taking the time for past and future comments. Paul Bishop - owner - Bishops Boats Seal Trips

“So wonderful we came back a year later with more family members!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

Wonderful 5.15pm boat trip and totally AMAZING to see the Seals, all approx 300! We did the same excursion last year and raved about it so much when we returned home to Oxfordshire that my parents travelled up for a couple of nights especially to see the Seals and found it to be a magical experience.

The skipper and his mate on the boat were friendly and pointed out lots of things of interest i.e birds etc and were open to any questions. We booked with Bishops as they were excellent last year too.

Highly recommend, thank you for a very memorable evening. (Great value too!)

“We loved the seals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

The trip was well organised and we had a great time watching the seals. An hour is a good length of time and we enjoyed the trip up and down the estuary.

“A great 'seal' encounter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

There are 3 or 4 operators taking people out to the end of Blakeney Point to see the seals.
We chose Bishop's Boats because we received a discount through our holiday cottage.
Tickets are collected from the quay at Blakeney but the boats actually leave from Morston, about 2 miles to the west. Be warned that at Morston you need to drive to the end of the car park (collecting your car park ticket enroute or free for NT badge-holders) and then walk 200 yards to the boat jetty.
The boat ride lasts an hour and the open boats take about 50 people. We had about 15 minutes next to the seals and it was delightful.
A word of advice is to choose a calm day as it can get wet with spray if the wind is in the wrong direction.
We had a wonderful trip - we hope you do to

Thank you for taking the trouble to post a good positive review, its nice when people go to the trouble instead of just using trip advisor when things go wrong for them!
Enjoy the rest of your hols.

“If you want to see seals, choose Bishop's!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

We arrived at 3:50 when the boat left at 4:15 to get the final 2 spaces onthe boats. We later found out that there were 90 spaces, so book early if you can!

My friend is not a good boat traveller but she thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. All boats by all companies actually launch 10 minutes down the road. From arrival we were treated extremely well. We were helped onto the boat and were given enough space to sit and manouevre. There wasn't a huge amountof extra space but there was more than any of the other boats we saw on the way.

They give you a small introductory talk as you leave the jetty and take you straight to the seals - what a sight! There were hundreds all on the point. Because there were 2 crew on board, they were able to answer questions at the front and back of the boat and were extremely knowledgeable about the seals and the local area and wildlife; no question remained unanswered. They made sure that both sides of the boat were turned to face the seals and circled a couple of times to ensure that everyone saw plenty.

I would really recomment this company if you are looking to take a trip out to see theseals on Blakeney Point.

Thanks for the great review. We have had some nice busy trips because of the lovely weather. Yes do book early if you can, especially during school holidays.
It is a gentle trip - no one sea sick to date...( actually ever in the last 60 years!)

“The seals are a must see....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

We chose Bishops Boats over the other local companies because they have been operating for a long time and are a local family business. They are all reliant on the tide of course, but our boat was first away from the moorings which gave us a little longer with the seals. It seemed to be a good choice of boat for the trip, with a shallow draught.

There was plenty of chance to ask questions, but actually relatively little interpretation is needed as within a few minutes you are within metres of a large colony of seals, a few of them with pups, and it's just lovely to watch them basking on their beach. They are unfazed by their visitors and some of them seem to quite enjoy swimming around the boats having a look at their visitors. It's also nice to get out close to the harbour mouth and see all the variety of boats and yachts coming and going.

A tip for National Trust members is that parking at Morston Quay (where the boats often depart from) is free for members, so if possible drop someone off in Blakeney to collect tickets, without parking up - unless of course you want to visit Blakeney.
