“Worth the wait”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

The White Horse feels like a work in progress, but heading in the right direction. Our experience was lunch at a table with a view of the quayside (one of the few), a view enjoyed during the fairly lengthy wait for our food to be served. A reassuring wait, however, as attractive, freshly-prepared plates appeared at neighbouring tables. Our choices: generous, crisp fish and chips, an interesting take on cassoulet and fresh fish of the day absolutely were worth the wait. This is the best kind of gastro-pub cooking: inventive and thoughtful, and at the same time honest and generous.

It's said that if you solve a problem the customer feels better than if it never had occurred, and here was proof: one dish arrived with a scattering of black pepper (we specifically had asked that it not be added). It was replaced without question, albeit after another wait. Five minutes into this second wait the waiter arrived with a complementary surprise board of pitta and tzatziki to fill the gap.

Only one of our party had a gap large enough for pudding, crumble in a rather more dainty portion than the mains. Cafetiere coffee (no espresso machine - yet?) completed a rather long but very satisfying lunch.

Definitely worth the wait.

“Sunday afternoon staff”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

Only stopped for a drink and to see if we fancied eating here, we decided not to as the tables were left messy for as long as we sat their ( well over an hour) unfortunately dirty plates and glasses left is a little off putting we decided to eat elsewhere

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed October 2, 2013 via mobile

Went for lunch and had a very tasty 2 course ala carte lunch. The food was very good, reasonably priced for the quality and amount. The samphire was excellent and if on must be tried. The beer was tasty also. The atmosphere wasn't great and staff not overly welcoming or interested. We weren't asked at any time how our food was which was disappointing. On the whole it's definately worth trying as the food was good.

“Celebration dinner!”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Had a great evening, food was excellent and staff were friendly and accommodating. Starters of Feta tart and a chicken and chorizo terrine, mains of pork with paprika mash gorgeous, and rib eye steak which I have on good authority delicious. And then the puds sticky toffee with banana ice cream awesome!!
Well done excellent all round.

“Lovely late summer lunch”
Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

In Blakeney late September - lunchtime... with the dog too... Popped into the White Horse and they are dog friendly. Great. Through to the suntrap back courtyard... Shared a delicious homemade humous starter then two mains of bream and duck. Both delicious and well priced. The Pinot Grigio by the glass also good. Recommended.
