Stayed at the Black Bull over Easter weekend. Rooms are comfortable and clean with good facilities. We ate in the hotel both days. Breakfast menu offered fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals as well as full English. We intend to visit again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

We stayed with our dog Chelsea, the room was very large and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was lovely and hot every morning. Plenty of walks nearby. Lovely log fire all you could want and the 3 nights for 2 is a great bargain.

We will be going back as it was the first time we had taken our dog and she enjoyed it as well!

Room Tip: Room no 2 is large.

Stayed for two nights bed and breakfast, with a friend, room was clean and welcoming. All the staff were friendly and smiley. Food was good especially the breakfasts which had everything, including plenty of fresh fruit. The place was very busy on New Years Eve, but we enjoyed the banter.
The place was reasonably priced, overall a very good stay.

Looked for a hotel that would accept our dog and found the Black Bull. On arrival I was shown to our room and was offered help with bags. Good size room as I had spoken to John and explained that I was going to be bringing dog cage. We were joined by friends and family and we chose to eat in the bar each night and the food could not be faulted. The rooms were very clean. We would certainly return if back in the area.

I was not sure what overall rating to give this review, and having umm’ed and arr’ed about choosing “Average” or “Very Good”, wanting it to be somewhere in between, I have opted for the more generous score.

None of us had any complaints about the place; the welcome was warm and friendly, the staff were attentive and polite, the surroundings were clean and tidy, the food was timely, well portioned, fresh and tasty and the bill for drinks and food was most respectful, but there was just something missing to make it any more than mediocre.

However, it is not posh-nosh or first date material, but would recommend it to friends and I would happily eat there again.

Having had a very bad experience the night before at a hotel in Otley, we were hoping that our overnight stay in The Black Bull would rescue our weekend break - and it did - we had a really lovely stay indeed!! The staff were so friendly & welcoming when we arrived, and our room was great!!. Everything was spotlessly clean with a lovely homely feel, beautifully fresh laundry, lovely comfy beds & fluffy pillows too. The weather was quite chilly, but the heating came on in our room, where we spent a lovely warm cosy evening. Breakfast the following morning was very good too.
The location of The Black Bull is ideal for exploring both the Yorkshire Dales & Cumbria. Really looking forward to staying here again next year!! Highly recommended!!!

We spent one night in a family room. The welcome was warm. Due to an oversight our room was not ready for a family but this was quickly and efficiently rectified. The room was comfortable and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The steak was delicious! Wonderful breakfast, particularly hot porridge with lovely fresh fruit and honey - yum!
