“weekend break”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

My partner and I booked two nights at The barbon Inn using a voucher deal. We did not expect too much as we got a very good rate. We were very pleasantly surprised however at both the location of the Inn, which is secluded and very picturesque and the quality of the accommodation, food and service which were all outstanding. The room we were allocated had a four poster bed and its own sitting area with sofa, comfy chairs and TV. The bed linen was pure cotton, feather duvet and a good quality mattress. We had double aspect windows over tranquil gardens. Everything about the Inn speaks of care and that the owners really want to provide good quality. It felt welcoming without being too formal and nicely old fashioned whilst providing modern comforts. We feel relaxed and happy after a really lovely break. highly recommended!

Lovely old Inn in a lovely quiet village with great scenery. Room was well equipped and pleasant with good en-suite facilities. Breakfast was good, as was the food on offer in the evenings. The staff were pleasant and helpful - we enjoyed the stay.

We booked Barbon Inn through another online website and had a very pleasant and comfortable stay here. It is about an hour's distance from the Lake District. The hosts were very warm and welcoming and the checkout was very quick and simple. The bathrooms were small but clean and had the toiletries. The rooms had tea kettles and the supplies. The beds were the best part!

This is a very charming old fashioned inn, brought up to modern standards without spoiling the the original atmosphere. The bedroom was clean and bright with the added four poster, the shower was small but functional.
The food was good and well cooked and of a good size, as was the breakfast, with plenty of choice to cater for all. A lovely bar with open fire, as was needed on one of the 'rare days of rain in Cumbria'.
On the whole this was a fantastic inn with a great atmosphere, and is well recommended.

Room Tip: Try room 10 with the 4 poster bed...

Stayed for a 2 night break. Staff friendly and pleasant. Room fine and clean, food ok especially breakfast. Owners need to be aware of certain attention to detail - e.g. check bedrooms after being serviced, and purchase new pillows as they were hard and lumpy. Pleasant surroundings. Tight squeeze for a large vehicle to access residents car park but other parking available.at the front and side of the pub. Very convenient for touring the surrounding area and The Lakes

Room Tip: Ask for Room 2. It is quiet and overlooks the rear of the property away from any noise coming from t...

I stayed here with my partner and family. Lovely cosy Inn with roaring log fires and a lovely "living room" type area. Breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal. Staff provided us with fluted glasses for the champagne we had brought with us to celebrate our daughters birthday and brought out a slice of sticky toffee cake with a candle in it. Great area for walking and loads to do with lovely old market towns to visit. If you are reading these reviews to make your mind up whether to go.....don't hesitate book it now !

Our first visit to the beautiful countryside retreat of the Barbon Inn, Kirkby in Lonsdale, the Inn is a former 17th Century Coaching Inn and has a piece of furniture in the lounge dated 1686, the owners/staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. There are old beams and open log fires, a comfortable lounge seating area, a small bar with lots of character. There is a comfortable restaurant area, although the menu did not have a vast choice, what we had was good. Our bedroom was tastefully decorated a very comfortable size and a good sized en-suite, all spotlessly clean. Our room had a view of the Church and the hillside beyond, a room with a view. There is free parking, although a tight squeeze through to the car park for a larger car, however, there are a few parking spaces on the front of the hotel. The Inn is convenient for the M6, Lancaster, visiting the surrounding area and the Lake District. We enjoyed an evening meal at the Inn and all family members stayed the night too, followed by a good breakfast the following morning. A thoroughly enjoyable stay, we would definitely recommend this Inn to anyone wanting to stay in this area.

Room Tip: We had a 'Room with a View' - Room 1
