“Gone down hill”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013 via mobile

On our first visit here we were completely wowed by the menu and service, but that was over two years ago and on our return this month I felt the service was no where near as professional, and some what strained.

We shared bread and whitebait to start which came with a delicious black bean hummous and lemon jelly. Delightful. However, our main course was significantly let down by the unevenly cooked chips! When you order a £15 scampi and chips meal you should expect the chips to be cooked evenly. They were all different sizes with only a couple that were of the perfect crispness. The rest were too big and under cooked in the middle. Really really disappointing.
I ordered ice cream for dessert and had to prompt the waitress as it took a long time to arrive.

Overall, gone down hill. Perhaps the owner need to be more present in his restaurant to ensure the food lives up to its reputation.

“Great overall night out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

Me and my wife went out for the rare meal away and it's nice to think there are still places to go that you are made us feel very special service and food was really good, the whole night was brilliant just a shame we were driving as the whisky shelf looked very tempting

“Poor quality and value”

Manager agreed that starter was of poor quality. It was so bad we thought it was thrown together by a child. At least we weren't charged but that's not really the point!

“More kids choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

Great restaurant, as are all thier others in teh chain. Our only gripe is the kids menu, its a bit lacking. Maybe some sort of pasta to be added to the menu ? Or beef burgers in plain buns, not on muffins. We as adutls adore this place and the food and drink, recomend t time and time again.

“Perfect for lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

We came across the Highwayman on route to Kirby Lonsdale. Although there was spring sunshine there was a lovely fire going. The woman behind the bar was very helpful and we ordered a chicken and bacon sandwich to share with chips, and a couple of glasses of wine. Good job we shared as the sandwich was large and very tasty. The chips were chunky and gorgeous. The wines we chose were excellent too. We'd thoroughly recommend this pub for lunch.
