Really cosy little pub with rooms and a nice little restaurant. Great food. Nice selection of real ales.

Absolutely faultless! The bags were carried to our room which was spotless and very comfortable with a large bed. The bath tub was huge and there was a seperate power shower. Big fluffy towels and soft dressing gowns were very welcome

This is the second time we have stayed at the Sun - and it won't be the last. The owners are so welcoming, as are all the staff. The hotel has a number of 'homey' touches, and it has a very warm and welcoming bar, with plenty of locals dropping in (always a good sign!) but without any rowdiness. The food is excellent - I believe it has one AA rosette, in my book, it is easily two rosette standard.

On a 400+ mile trip from London – Scotland I decided to surprise my girlfriend with an overnight stay in the lakes and booked a room here. This hotel ticked all the boxes being just several miles from the M6 and being a 5* with good reviews. I found the hotel clean, warm and friendly and wanted to take the bed home with me! The standard double room came with beautiful period features but with a contemporary element too. Breakfast was included in the price (which I felt was very reasonable anyway) comprising of cereal, toast and fried breakfast – I can only comment on the fry up with was great.

I was aware about the limited parking from trip advisor but found it not an issue as driving was the last thing on my mind and living in London I am not a stranger from parking a couple of minutes up the road – there is a loading bay for arriving and departing.

Would 100% recommend this to anyone – a genuine 5* hotel and fell in love with Kirkby Lonsdale – there are several pubs within walking distance of the hotel that are nice to drink in too.

The Sun Inn combines modern facilities with traditional Lakeland hospitality. Rooms are plush with modern bathrooms and facilities (plasma telly, wi-fi etc). The staff are welcoming and efficient and the food is fantastic. Parking is on the street - Kirkby Lonsdale was built way before the invention of the internal combustion engine, so familiarise yourself with the parking maps before you arrive so as to know where to look for the best parking spots.
